The little lady in the middle of this picture is also the center of my world. Those with a keen eye and a deeper understanding of the fundamental truths of human nature need no further details.

Ignorance, Intolerance, and Prejudice Confronted

Posted September 29th, 2008 at 10:38pm

My woman posted this video series in her blog recently and it made me think on some of the experiences I have shared during my time on BlackPlanet.

I know why I am here and it never ceases to amaze me why it is even questioned by so many people who see fit to comment to me negatively in some areas more than others. I know what it is like to face bigots, racists, and just plain old dislikable people. As a news flash for some I will tell you that all of them are not white (Caucasian). There are plenty of black people who do not like black people. It may be due to a lack of self-esteem or self-worth so when they identify you as being one of them they can't like you either because they hate themselves. Yet I do not want to embrace that stance whole-heartedly because plenty have used that argument to explain away my relationship choice. That assumption always kill me because I am proud of who I am and I recognize the differences in my mate, but the least important of them is her color. It is the similarities AND opposition that attracted me not one or the other. There are plenty of black people who do not like white people. It may be due to the mistreatment of black people historically who share their heritage and views or it could be a simple over simplification of negative experiences they have in today's society. Either way to adapt and survive in the changing global and local environment you must learn to recognize your friends and enemies and more often than not they fail to be color coded. The person you embrace or reject based on skin color could be the total opposite of what you expected if that is all you use to make your decisions. Love yourself, love others, but protect yourself and those you love or else there is no reason for love to be returned to you.

My ethnicity is a very important part of me, but it is not what defines me as a person. If you can not look past my skin color and accept it, or you can not look past the skin color of the woman on my arm and accept it, then we would never be friends, acquaintances, associates, business partners or anything else in common. To those who would judge me solely on sight and never look to the quality of my character, I thank God every day for your disapproval. It spares me from being poisoned by your influence in my life. It reminds why I enjoy life despite the trials and tribulations that come my way. It also reminds me how wonderful it is to have someone who believes in me and supports me by my side. Your misery will have no home here in my domain. Those who can be made miserable due to the relationships of others are usually miserable with their own lives regardless if they are alone or not. I don't feel the need to address the white people who show up with their bigotry, because they will be outnumbered and dealt with by the members of this site fairly well. I do enough of that in real life. My issue is with the attitude of ignorance amongst us that is excused and applauded by constantly claiming our victimhood. "They hated us first!" "They treated us bad first" If you know anything about human relationships from kindergarten on up you should know that HE WHO RETALIATES ALWAYS GETS CAUGHT. Whoever took the initiative waited to do their dirt when no one was looking. The person offended usually does something to signal attention to their annoyance and presence and THEN commences their righteous and just revenge only to get busted. You can not defeat ignorance and hatred with the same weapons used against you. You only justify their initial prejudice and spread it to others. Be better, be smarter, and do NOT sacrifice yourself to the affliction of poor judgement and hamper positive movements in your life and for the banner you carry (your ethnic pride). Don't be the guy on COPS that the media uses to fuel the fear of Black people. Don't let intolerance align you in thought with the very people you hate and the reasons you hate them. If you do you give them your power and rob yourself of your voice to bring about some semblance of justice in your world.

Besides all of that, I really like the music for this. Check the video out.

Dedication To My Stalker

Posted September 23rd, 2008 at 05:00pm

I would like to take the time out to dedicate this song to the #1 "stalker" in my life whom I could not imagine my world without. My PawPaw.

I would miss you a lot more than a little bit.
