Get Rid of Razor Bumps & Ingrown Hairs

Posted July 11th, 2008 at 07:05pm

Men - Stop wasting your money on razor bump/ingrown hair products that don't work! Tend Skin is a top seller at my store for a reason. It works.

No other product can do all that Tend Skin Liquid can, especially when it comes to ingrown hairs and razor bumps (Pseudofolliculitis barbae, PFB).
.
Razor bumps are created when the growing beard hairs exit the skin, curl over, and burrow into the adjacent skin, resulting in an unsightly "bump". Razor bumps form on the beard areas of men-mostly Black men and about 15-20% of Caucasian men. Occurrence rates varies with nationality.
.
Ingrown hairs form when hairs, growing back after shaving, waxing, electrolysis, or other hair removal method, fail to grow out of the skin. The hairs curl over inside the follicles under the skin (just like the "razor bump" hairs curl above the skin). By curling, then creates and unsightly "bump".
.
Directions: Apply only to DRY skin. Dampen a cotton ball with Tend Skin and apply to area. Use morning and night until the area is clear. Then, daily after hair removal.
.
Tend Skin is available at my Snellville Beauty Supply store or at www.APGbeauty.com.

What products are good for Thinning Hair?

Posted July 10th, 2008 at 03:54pm

Groganics hair products are a top seller at my store. This line of products is also very popular in Chicago and Detroit.

Groganics DHT Block System

^Promotes Hair Growth

^Stimulates & Strengthens Hair Follicles

^Increases blood flow to the scalp

^Prevents Thinning Hair

^Freezes & Blocks DHT

What is DHT? DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) is the most potent naturally occurring androgen and is produced from Free Testoterone through the action of 5-alpha-reductace. 5-alpha-reductace concentrations are the highest in the perpheral tissues (hair follicles) Males and females suffer from the effects of DHT on the genetically predisposed hair follicles. Binding of DHT to the hair follicle result in gradual thinning and eventual hair loss. The older we get, the more DHT build-up we have in the scalp and follicle.

How does Groganics work? This DHT Blocker System uses the natural ingredients to attack, block and freeze DHT. It also slowly strengthens the follicle which promotes longer, stronger, thicker and healthier hair for both men and women.

How Do I Start Locks?

Posted July 03rd, 2008 at 11:16pm

There are several techniques used for starting locks. Your hair texture will determine what will be the best way for you.

Here are some examples of techniques used to start locks.

Comb twist

Latch Locking

Shampooing and fingering

Individual Braids

Individual two-strand twist

Palm Rolling

The technique and size used to start your locks will determine the final look. The versatility, thickness and fullness all depends on the technique used, hair length and hair texture.

Before you decide to have locks started, take a look at some photos of lock styles and actual people with locks. Consult a natural hair stylist to see if you're a good candidate for the size/style of locks you desire. The Taliah Waajid brand product called 'Lock It Up' is great for maintaining your locks.

Here are some other Taliah Waajid products that work well on Natural Hair styles:

Total Body Shampoo - It cleanses and provides moisture.

Herbal Conditioner - It conditions and adds moisture.

African Healing Oyl - Use once hair is locked.

Protective Mist Bodifier - It's a great daily leave-in conditioner. Use once the hair is locked.

Lock It Up - Starts and maintains locks, twists and styles natural hair.

What is Indian Virgin Remi Hair?

Posted July 03rd, 2008 at 07:57pm

GLAM Indian Virgin Remy Hair is very popular with my high end clients. It's a superior quality remy product. (It comes from India, not China).

Here are the benefits to Indian Virgin Remy Hair:

#1 - It lasts 6 months to a year. (It can be used over and over again).

#2 - It does NOT tangle. It does NOT matte up. I know this because i used the hair myself prior to putting in my store.

#3 - It blends in flawlessly with your hair. It looks natural. It can be straightened or worn wavy/curly.

#4 - It has NO chemical coating. Lots of so-called human hair products on the market have a silicone or protein base.

#5 - You can perm and/or color the hair.

#6 - It holds curls brilliantly and you get longer lasting volumptuous curls.

This hair is an investment and you're worth it! Keep in mind, you save money in the long run, because the hair lasts longer. The fact that it looks better is just an added bonus.

Some of my customers who have purchased this hair are models, professionals and athletes wives/girlfriends.

This hair is for sale at http://www.apgbeauty.com/. (From the homepage, under Weaving Hair, select GLAM Indian Hair.

Is it OK to have weaving hair glued onto your real hair?

Posted June 14th, 2008 at 06:14pm

Hair bonding glue can be difficult to remove. It can also damage and/or pull out your real hair. If hair bonding glue is your only option, select one that has a latex base, such as "Maxi" brand. Latex is like rubber. Its very flexible and pliable. Therefore, it will be easier to remove from your head. Stay away from hair bonding glues such as 'Liquid Gold', which promises a stronger, longer hold. 'Liguid Gold' crystallizes and hardens, making it very difficult to remove.

10 Ways to Get Your Hair to Grow

Posted June 13th, 2008 at 03:00pm

There are several things which promote optimal hair growth.

#1 - Get Regular Trims - If you don't, your hair will split and break off.

#2 - Take a daily Multi-Vitamin.

#3 - Use a Deep Conditioner every time you wash your hair. For best results, sit under a bonnet hair dryer with your deep conditioner and a plastic cap on, for at least 15 minutes. The heat from the dryer helps the conditioner penetrate/moisturize the hair.

#4 Wrap your hair up at bed time. Protect your hair by tying a silk or satin scarf around your head every night before bed. Cotton pillow cases and cotton hair scarves are very drying to the hair. They often cause the hair to break off or ends to split.

#5 - Keep your hair and scalp moisturized. Dry, brittle hair is very delicate. It also breaks and splits more easily.

#6 - Eat a balanced diet. Foods high in protein, such as fish, chicken and almonds help hair and nails grow. Drink a lot of water and eat your fruits/vegetables.

#7 - Decrease the amount of chemicals you put in your hair. Relaxers, texturizers and hair color can compromise the integrity of the hair shaft. Ultimately, they can have a negative impact on hair growth.

#8 - Exercize - It increases the blood flow. Some studies have shown that an increased blood flow to the head promotes healthy hair growth.

#9 - Use as little heat on the hair as possible. Heated styling tools such as blow dryers and curling irons can damage the hair shaft.

#10 - Relax - Stress can cause hair loss and stunt hair growth.
