personal message

Rev. Al Sharpton is one of most-renowned civil rights leaders in the country. He has been praised by President Obama, who calls him “the voice of the voiceless and a champion for the downtrodden”, and Former President George W. Bush has said of him “Al cares just as much as I care about making sure every child learns to read, write, add and subtract.” Rev. Sharpton is the founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), a not-for-profit, civil rights organization based in Harlem, New York with over 45 chapters nationwide. He is a leader around the issue of education and the fight to ensure that America brings equity to an educational system that, 54 years since Brown v. Board of Education, continues to fail its highest-need students.

Rev. Sharpton is also a nationally-syndicated radio host, T.V. personality and columnist, with three popular radio shows broadcasted throughout the country, a regular television show featured on TV One, and a column that appears in national newspapers and is facing syndication.

Rev. Sharpton was educated in New York public schools and attended Brooklyn College. He has an honorary degree from A.P. Bible College.

Rev. Sharpton sends letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to seek meeting regarding Rush Limbaugh’s potential bid to buy St. Louis Rams

Monday, October 11, 2009 (New York, NY)—Rev. Al Sharpton, President of National Action Network, and one of the country’s foremost leaders for civil rights, has publicly released a letter he sent to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell seeking a meeting to discuss Rush Limbaugh’s potential bid to buy the St. Louis Rams.

In the letter Rev. Sharpton cites Mr. Limbaugh’s divisiveness as anti-NFL and hopes to use a meeting with Commissioner Goodel to urge the NFL to block any potential bid by Mr. Limbaugh stating it would be bad for the league.

In the letter, Rev. Sharpton also praises the Executive Director of the NFL Players Association DeMaurice Smith for publicly asking that the League seek to unify, not divide, by rejecting any bid by Mr. Limbaugh.

Rev. Sharpton will discuss the issue on his nationally syndicated radio show “Keepin it Real” at 1:06 p.m. EST on www.sharptontalk.net.

NAN is one of the leading Civil Rights organizations in the nation with over 45 chapters around the country. NAN works extensively to promote a modern Civil Rights agenda which includes a standard of decency for all people regardless of race or sex, social justice for all communities, and improvement of race relations. Through the years, NAN has served as a megaphone for the voiceless and an advocate for those in need.  We have taken on issues relating to voter registration, education, and police misconduct.

Reverend Sharpton,

I have been an admirer for many years. I live in Columbus, Ohio and so say the least it has a major problem with African-Americans, especially those have not or can't afford to assimulate. Employment opportunites are next to none and there appears to be a different workforce available. It is marketted as an up and coming city, bu t make no mistake it is up and coming for some. Investment groups are buying up property in black neighborhoods and renting them with very little rehabilitation and in some cases under fraudulent pretences.

I am just wondering if this is a trend across the country in regards to African-Americans?

Keep up your efforts, there are those of us who keep you in prayer and believe in you sincerety. In my opinion you are the only real black leaer left.

Stay strong.

Knowledge is Power........
Current mood: enlightened
Category: Religion and Philosophy
Who am I? Compared to God I am no one. What do I have? Compared to what God can give me I have nothing. God is everything good and I am his child and that is what makes me something. The true measure of a man is his relationship with God. Who are you? Who are you sleeping with and who do you love? Identify your enemies and allies . By doing so you win half the battle but keep in mind that knowing is only half the battle. Have you won or lost the first half of the battle? Do you know God or are you a fatherless child? Seek wisdom in the words of the bible it's imperative to your survival.
Knowledge is Power......

The REAL reason why we are in Afghanistan,
why we support Musharaff in Pakistan,
so India can have energy. Send Indian troops then, the war is so India can have natural gas? And the pipeline goes through the Taliban's backyard?

The Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline (TAP or TAPI) is a proposed natural gas pipeline being developed by the Asian Development Bank. The pipeline will transport Caspian Sea natural gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan into Pakistan and then to India. Proponents of the project see it as a modern continuation of the Silk Road. The Afghan government is expected to receive 8% of the project's revenue.

The original project started in March 1995 when an inaugural memorandum of understanding between the governments of Turkmenistan and Pakistan for a pipeline project was signed. In August 1996, the Central Asia Gas Pipeline, Ltd. (CentGas) consortium for construction of a pipeline, led by Unocal was formed. On 27 October 1997, CentGas was incorporated in formal signing ceremonies in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan by several international oil companies along with the Government of Turkmenistan. In January 1998, the Taliban, selecting CentGas over Argentinian competitor Bridas Corporation, signed an agreement that allowed the proposed project to proceed. In June 1998, Russian Gazprom relinquished its 10% stake in the project. Unocal withdrew from the consortium on 8 December 1998.

The new deal on the pipeline was signed on 27 December 2002 by the leaders of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.[1] In 2005, the Asian Development Bank submitted the final version of a feasibility study designed by British company Penspen. Since the United States military overthrew the Taliban government, the project has essentially stalled; construction of the Turkmen part was supposed to start in 2006, but the overall feasibility is questionable since the southern part of the Afghan section runs through territory which continues to be under de facto Taliban control.

On 24 April 2008, Pakistan, India and Afghanistan signed a framework agreement to buy natural gas from Turkmenistan.[2]

[edit] Route
The 1,680 kilometres (1,040 mi) pipeline will run from the Dauletabad gas field to Afghanistan. From there TAPI will be constructed alongside the highway running from Herat to Kandahar, and then via Quetta and Multan in Pakistan. The final destination of the pipeline will be the Indian town of Fazilka, near the border between Pakistan and India.[3]

[edit] Technical features
The pipeline will be 1,420 millimetres (56 in) in diameter with a working pressure of 100 atm.[3] The initial capacity will be 27 billion cubic meter (bcm) of natural gas annually of which 2 bcm will be provided to Afghanistan and 12.5 bcm to both Pakistan and India. Later the capacity will increase to 33 bcm.[4] Six compressor stations are to be constructed along the pipeline.[3] The pipeline is expected to be operational by 2014.[5]

The cost of the pipeline is estimated cost at US$7.6 billion.[2] The project is to be financed by the Asian Development Bank.[6]
