I had a conversation with my dad recently. And somewhere n the middle of the conversation, he told me of a former collegue of his who is now in his 60's, and retired. He said he met the old man on his way to pick up his toddler kids from school. "At a time when this old man should be resting", said my old man, "he is punishing himself with school-runs". My dad felt so sorry for the old man.

Heard something from a TEDX seminar that made so much sense; "We don't think in texts, we think in pictures. That's why we will never run into someone down the street and say I remember your name but I can't remember your face. It's usually the other way around". That's probably the reason we don't benefit much from the Bible. Because we read the texts, but rarely apply our imagination to what we read.

For a long time I had read this verse of scripture. And most preachers I listened to implied that the "gift" was referring to inborn talent. I disagreed because it was obvious to me that the verse was written in the context of the "gift" being a present or some form of offering given to a person of higher status. The more I heard Preachers emphasize the first interpretation, the more the conflict grew within. I just couldn't accept that translation of the scripture.

He spoke of his lifelong philosophies,

And I listened attentively

He spoke on of his pleasant memories

And I listen further

He spoke of his trials and triumphs

Still I listened

He went on and on 'bout things I cared nothing for

Yet I strained, though bored at this point, to listen

Until my moment came,or so I thought,

To spew those words that churned in my silence

But midway through my sentence his countenance dimmed

As if to say ,"you are void of intelligence".
