It seems to me that men only allow themselves to fall in love once. It is usually early on in his life so in his inexperience he chooses the wrong girl and ends up getting hurt
So from that time on he puts his heart under lock and key and every other woman that he enters into a relationship with suffers. We as women are cheated out of real intimacy because of this, the men resort to playing mental games in an effort to control the situation
because deep down they are scared to get hurt but they are not gonna tell you that for fear of being perceived as "weak"
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND
I feel that some women have the tendency to fall in love very easily and it is usually based on what she thinks she can make the man into his so-called "potential" (but a fantasy is really what it is) so she put forth all her efforts into remaking this man she starts out subtle but in the process she becomes a nag at this point she is mad and disappointed at the man for not living up to the fantasy that she is in love with so now she is miserable. Take the time from the very beginning to really see the man for who he is and then base your expectations on that.
Some dating situations are hard because sometimes people feel that they have to project false images of themselves not realizing that if a person spends enough time with you that your real personality will eventually reveal itself
I believe that we all have a responsibility in every situation to try to do what we believe is right. If we make a mistake (and we often do simply because we're human) we have to take a honest look at that particular situation and see what we could have done different, then make a conscience effort to do better next time. Learn to treat individuals as individuals and be careful not to put them all in the same category, even though some people might do similar things.
Don't give up because the person GOD has for you is still out there, or maybe you already know that person but you are so caught up in the past that you can't see your future even when it's right in front of you.
I am not a psychologist, I don't have a degree in this area I base my opinions on my own experiences as well as others that are close to me. Again I say this is one woman's opinion
