THE VALUE OF MAN
A Parable Adapted by Dr. LaTatia Stroud
As the students walked with their teacher through the park, the teacher stopped and faced the students. He lifted a crisp new $100 bill in the air and asked, "Who would like this bill?" Everyone's hand flew in the air.
Then the teacher crumbled the bill and threw it to the ground. He then asked, "Who would like this bill?". Still, all hands went into the air.
Next, the teacher stepped on the bill and ground it into the dirt with his shoe. He then asked, "Anybody still want this bill?". Once again, everyone's hand went into the air.
Finally, he picked up the dirty and crumbled $100 bill, ripped it in half and tossed it to the side. "Now who wants it?" All the students eagerly raised their hands.
The teacher responded, "Let this be a lesson to you. In life, people, situations, and the choices you make, may cause you to fall to the ground. Many people will step on you to lift themselves up. Some may even grind you into the dirt, try to rip apart your soul and toss you to the side.
But remember this day, that just as you still wanted this $100 bill because it never lost its value... God still wants you; no person, situation or bad choice you make will ever cause you to lose your value.
It's not by who you are but by whose you are. Before the foundation of this world you were conceived by God and no force on Earth can ever take that away. "
The students all nodded in agreement as they proceeded on their way.
