Barack Obama took Iowa last night. I served as a precinct captain for the Obama campaign and it was an awesome experience. It was amazing for me to see so many white people show up and support a black man, that only 30 years ago, would have drawn this type of crowd at his lynching.

Let us not forget what was lost in this victory, let us not forget who was lost in this victory and most importantly, let us not forget that the battle is not yet over. We will lose more than we gain... (continue reading)

I have been absent for a while. During this time I learned that sometimes you have to back away from something to see it for what it really is. For example, the magnified view of anything is very different than an arial view. The closer you get the more distorted it becomes, so much so that you loose sight of what it is you are looking at. Thanks for all of the kind words. I appreciate the love I have received from my fellow Planeteers. I am doing better. I still have a large lump in my throat that could turn to tears at any moment, but overall I am doing better. I realize that what's important is the legacy my grandpa left and now it's my responsibility to carry it to the next generation of men in my family, starting with my son.
