In the black community you are taught to be black, but who can really teach you what black is? In school you are taught history, broken down it's "his-story".They don't teach you about G.W. Carver, Malcolm, Frederick Douglass, etc. Our history died at the Slave master's house along with our family tree. We don't know our original names, our ancestors, or our original religion, We are the only people without a known past other than slavery. We have lost allot of our brothers and sisters in this race since they are trying to be white because they don't know what they are supposed to be. In the dictionary it says white is pure and black is filthy and evil. (" I know who wrote that") And yet the oldest body and DNA found was an African woman. How do you teach your kids to be proud when the world they turn to is out to destroy them. We also lose allot of our friends to violence. I still remember: Grimlock, Sherm, Shorty, Mike Younger, Maleek Jones, Kia, White trash, Melany, Tamara, Nate, K-Woo, etc. The list goes on of brothers and sisters we lose but once again they never were taught this in school. But society has it sugar coated to make you believe you will have it easy as long as you know about Abraham Lincoln, Christopher Columbus, George Washington, and have a degree. They don't tell you about getting turned away for a job because of the color of your skin or Pooky who everyone knows of that we see everyday. We don't all have the luxury of walking in our neighborhoods without seeing drug dealers, junkies, gangs, etc. It's not always the white picket fence outside our windows. The police in the area don't protect us, they look at us like "one of them", so we grow up learning to protect ourselves. People wonder why we have bad attitudes and street rules. It's because our lives are bad scenarios and the streets do rule. Not to mention it's been decades since we were promised 40 acres and a mule. We don't want any retributions just give us a solution. We lose our homes, jobs, money, etc. But we will not lose our dignity or our pride, or our will to fight. We hear the racial slurs and we walk by with our heads held high. Some of us lash out since they have had enough. They are tired of being accepted only when there is something to gain from them. I don't condone violence but I truly do understand it. It's hard to have a bachelors degree when nobody will hire you. People will never understand the plight of a Black man unless they walk in the shoes. I like to call myself the best kept secret. I walk in the shoes, I lived through the grind, I survived the trials. I now stand here a strong proud Black man, and I will not fail. The task ahead of me is nothing compared to the power within me. Here we go again. Jehovah Witness just told me I have the wrong faith. I asked him to answer me 3 questions. My Life, My WifePosted When I look at her, I know why she was created. She is the calm of my storm, the center of my earth, the reason I smile. When I am away from her, she fills my thoughts, fills my dreams. When I am with her, she fills my void, fills my heart, fills my hunger. Why is she with me? What have I done to deserve her? The curve in her hips, the twinkle in her eye, the sound of her voice, the smell of her perfume, the texture of her hair all drive me wild. I have so much to say to her, but when she is... (continue reading) Is religion a choice?Posted Many people will say I am a confused man. I believe I am just a man who was smart enough to ask the question. In many religions it is written in stone that " Thou shalt not kill" But in a religious war, they are ready to kill each other. A broken commandment is a broken commandment. People are quick to pass judgment on other people, but it says " Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". If that is the case I know I will see no rocks flying. A few religions believe that Revelations is the... (continue reading) |
