Welcome:
Who am I ?
My name is Tommie Whitlow:
A person who is loving, kind, honest, open, playful, affectionate, has strong values,is a respecter of persons, has a sense of justice, a sense of humor and a strong faith . It is important that the person is able to talk to me on a variety of subjects At the same time, I like a person who can be comfortable with silence. I like a person who enjoys the simple things in life- a sunset, wind through the trees, rippled water, beach sand through the toes, mountains, landscapes, etc. I am attracted to someone who is comfortable with herself, who is gentle in a strong way and accepting of others. Deep seated anger, bigotry and reckless driving turns me off.
I am funny without trying to be funny. I will talk naturally not trying to be funny and everyone will be in stitches. As I get older, I am more laid back and less shy. I speak my mind, because I'm very comfortable with myself.I am basically an introvert who enjoys being alone but I also enjoy being with people as long it is with a small group or one-on-one. I am serious when I am focusing on a task, taking care of a problem or talking about my faith. I am creative (design, decorating), energetic, loyal, honest, supportive, patient frequently, occasionally not. I am often adventurous, trying new things and taking on challenges and risks. I enjoy dancing and my next project is to take Salsa lessons. Flexibility and open mindedness are characteristic of me as well. There is more but that can wait until I talk to you.
I believe that I must live a life consistent with my faith. I strive to that end. My goal is to continue to grow in relationship with our Lord. All the scripture verses are important to me. Depending on One's growth or where you are in life, something different can be gleaned from the scriptures each time you read them and they can stretch you and expand your understanding.
I love coffee shops with outdoor tables and chairs where one can sit and feel the warm or cool breeze and watch people come and go. I enjoy drinking coffee with whipped cream and lots of cinnamon with chocolate/mocha and have a good conversation with a real woman. Coffee shops are a great place to talk without interruption and relax at the same time. Of course I would be open to browsing bookstores and walking in the park or along the beach. I am always open to suggestions.
Working-out and walking exhilarate me. Exercising gives me a sense of peace and musical theater soars my spirit. Reading takes me away from the day to day as do playing piano and singing I sometimes rent netflix Cd's. I like movie drama's and I enjoy traveling but not as much since 9/11. I spend a lot of time leading Quiet Days and Retreats. Camping, fishing, hiking is fun but I don't have a chance to do things very often. Would like to more. I entertain occasionally and enjoy that a lot. I watch football, basketball, golf and now I am into Dexter, Weeds and The Underground on Showtime.
Currently, I work in the Program Management/IT field. Formerly I was a college teacher. I enjoy ministering the word to people through speaking, writing and healing. I am doing exactly what I want to doin life therefore this is a dream job (or rather than a vocation). I did think of being a jazz musician when I was young, then a priest, then a pilot (I actually attended officers training school in the Air force) I am very happy where I am in my life. I am happy with my life and would like to share it or rather mingle it with another life.
I went to college and graduate schools in California and Washington. I studied Business Administration and Computer Science. I also earned a Teachers Credential from the State of California. Yes, I have often thought about studying more. It seems that my schedule lately hasn't been able to accommodate it. Not formally that is. I always manage to find something to study though.
I plan to continue to grow spiritually and to continue to minister God's word to people.
A previous relationship ended well mainly because of what I had learned earlier about better communication and speaking directly (not expecting someone to read my mind). I have also learned not to have such a limited view of what I want that I don't leave room for God to show me what He has in mind for me.
I was born in Kansas City, Kansas. Have traveled to Central (Costa Rica, Panama) and South America ((Brazil, Paraguay, Venezuela), Africa (Ghanna, Egypt), St. Martin, St. Thomas, St.Crox, Mexico, Virgin Islands, France, Vancouver, Canada, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and other parts of the US.
Finally, if you are really interested in learning more about me kindly, let me know by sendng me a note...
Love & Time...
Once upon a time there was an island where all the feelings lived:Happiness,Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink. So all repaired their boats and left. Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment.
When the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help. Richness was passing by in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?". Richness answered, "No, I can`t. There is alot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you". Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!" Vanity answered, "I can`t help you Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat". Sadness was close by so Love asked for help. "Sadness, let me go with you." Sadness answered, "Oh Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!" Happiness passed by Love too. But she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice. "Come Love, I will take you." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that she even forgot to ask the elder her name. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Love realized how much she owed the elder. Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who helped me?" Knowledge answered, "It was Time." "Time?", asked Love. "But why did Time help me?" Knowledge smiled with deep Wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."

Relationships...
People come into your life for
a REASON, a SEASON, or a LIFETIME.
When you know which one it is for a person, you will know what to do for that person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON,it is usually to meet a need you haveexpressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
They may seem like a Godsend, and they are!
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something
to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die.
Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered, and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons:
things you must build upon in order
to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
Front Row Seats...
Life is a theater - Invite your audience carefully. Not everyone is
healthy enough to have a front row seat in our lives...
Thereare some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance...
It`s amazing what you can accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize, your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere
relationships/friendships...
Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention. Which ones lift and which ones lean? Which ones encourage and which ones is courage? Which Ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill?
When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse? Which ones always have drama or don`t really The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and Truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the FRONT ROW and who should be moved to the balcony of your life...
You cannot change the people around you. But you can change the people you are around...
