Unfortunately people don't inform you in advance they are dying so you can remind them every day how very much you love them until their demise.  Since prior notification isn't always given, don't wait! If you love someone, tell them how much they mean to you, or better yet SHOW them BEFORE they leave this earth.  Because after they're gone, they can no longer hear you, and believe me you will wish you had.

One more thing, why wait to BE with Jesus when you're dead; when you can try to be LIKE him while you are alive. Take a look around, I bet you won't have to look far to see there is tremendous need all around us.  Each of us in his or her own way has the capacity to try to make this incredibly abundant and beautiful planet, and this includes its people just a little better.  All that really matters is the injustices we correct, or atleast try to correct, the memories, love and things we give and create that we leave behind after we're gone is what truly gives us life everlasting isn't it.

One last thing,  (I really mean it this time), why do so many Christians find it necessary to tell others they are Christians?  From what I have read there was a time when Christians were distinguished by their actions and behavior, primarily how they treated other people, particularly the aged, the sick and the poor.  Throughout history Christians, (not the ones who didn't beat their wives and/or slaves, kill Indians, Jews or heretics on Sunday), but true spiritual people were for the most part on the front lines fighting against injustice, or attempting to alleviate suffering.  For some reason they always seemed to stay in trouble with authority, usually for protecting the poor and the weak, from the rich and the strong.  Not simply because they were so holy as many want you to believe.  I have really lost count of how many Christians over the years have told me they are upset, or outraged by the prevalance of profanity and nudity in movies, the provocative way young people dress, gay people, and rap music.  Yet not one single Christian has ever expressed to me disgust, moral outrage, anger or even the slighest problem with the fact that in America for some years now and continuing now in 2010, in the 21st century still:

  • African American women get cancer at 3 times the rate of white women, and die of cancer at twice the rate of white women,
  • over 40,000 americans die annualy for lack of health care,
  • an additional 198,000 die annually from medical errors,
  • African American men and women have on average 7-10 years shorter lives than white Americans because of lack of adequate health care and higher pollution levels even in some of the more affuent black neighborhoods,
  • a women is attacked or abused every 16 seconds,
  • the US and Britian were ranked the worst countries for children, having the highest number of abuse cases and serious child injuries internationally including third world, underdeveloped countries,
  • more black and white women die during child birth than any other modern, industrialized country,
  • there are thousands of small  towns where 10% - 30% of their population (including babies) develop cancers and/or physical abnormalities from high pollution levels,
  • there are the highest homeless and illiteracy rates of all the industrialized countries,
  • there are the highest number of hungry, impoverished, obese children, and child diabetes cases of all the modern, industrialized countries,
  • has among the lowest number of female judges, business and government executives creating and implementing policies in the modern, developed world,
  • has the highest number of over medicated women and children on earth,
  • there are over 2 million men and women rotting in prisons, they are not raising children to be loving, compassionate, patriotic, creative, productive adults, neither are they producing goods or services, paying taxes, voting, running for office, or making any tangible contribution to society, other than maintaining guard jobs, and making  a number of investors and business people rich.

How can the way some people dress, or who some people have sex with, or how many times others may curse somehow, in some strange, perverted way, be more important than chronically ill children and people DYING?

What I simply can't seem to understand is how on earth could there possibly be so many people with such a poor quality of life with so much abject misery and suffering throughout this incredible planet God made for us in the midst of over 2 billion Christians?
