Aretha Louise Franklin,mother of four sons,was born March 25th,1942 in Memphis TN.Her family later moved to Detroit.
Her father Rev. C.L. Franklin was a civil rights activist,who walked side by side with Dr. Martin Luther King.
She learned to play piano by age 8,and by age 14 she recorded her very first album(gospel).
After a 5 year stint at Columbia Records,she signed to Atlantic Records in 1967 and released a string of million sellers including;"Respect","Chain Of Fools","Think","Call Me","Spanish Harlem","Rock Steady","Day Dreaming","Angel" & "Something He Can Feel".
She switched to Arista Records in 1980 & began another string of hits;"United Together","Jump To It","Willing To Forgive" & "A Rose Is Still A Rose".
Her many Awards & accolades include 20 Grammy Awards(10 of which she won 8 years in a row!),including the Grammy Lifetime Acheivement Award,Grammy Legend Award,6 American Music Awards,first female inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame,Honorary Doctorate of Music Degrees from Michigan State Univ,New England Conservertory,Wayne State Univ(Humane Letters),Bethune Cookman,United Negro College Fund Humanitarian Award,UNCF Hall Of Fame,Essence Award, 2008 NAACP Image Vangaurd Award,and the state of Michigan declaring her voice a "natural resource"...
