Being professional is an attitude. It is not something that you just do, it¿s a state of mind.



First access yourself. Am I professional?

Being professional is the way you carry yourself, an aura of class. Not saying that you are better than anyone, but saying that you will hold yourself to a standard of nothing less than the best.



Notice the way you sit. Is it slouched, or is your head held high, your shoulders back. This has a lot to do with the way people perceive you. It shows how you feel about you.

The same thing goes for the manner in which you stand and walk.



Your speech. Do you tailor it to your audience? When you are at work are you that same silly person you are at home with the kids? Or with your homies? Most people in the real professional world do not have the understanding of using ghetto terminology in the workplace. So learn the differences and adjust.



Your attire.

Make sure that you would want to hire you. Don¿t look at it from your point of view but from theirs. Would you want you to represent the company? Slouchy, unclean clothes, or wrinkled clothing does not show that you care about your appearance. And wear a suit. Slacks. Or, for the ladies, have other people that care about you give you constructive criticism on your attire for the interview. Casual is out. Come in looking clean. Just like that Escalade sittin on dubs you want to be just as sharp.



Keep in mind your attitude will change everything. Come in determined. The job IS YOURS. Claim it. You can speak life or not into your future. You make the decision.
