A BRIEF SYNOPSIS ON THE STORY SO FAR...

Okay, obviously this page isn't for everyone to read so if you have only been able to read up to here, save yourself while you still can...! This goes on even further... Continue at your own risk...

I am basically a down to earth person. I will try anything that's challenging, productive, positive and enlightening...

Okay, now to people worth knowing about:

Who is Philip Emeagwali?

FRACTALS
Fractals are mathematical models used to model natural structures such as leaves, mountains, clouds, body structures, etc, because classical geometric shapes don't exist in real life and are just (inaccurate) models to make it easier for us to grasp geometry...

Fractals are one of the mysteries of mathematics in nature... infinity in a finite, closed space (How many times can zero go into 1?) How many positive, real fractions can you count between 0 and 1? The answer is infinity because of infinite precision.

Fractals

Every so-called technological gadget you use is a poor man's approximation of reality.

Engineers build things according to what they can manage to model accurately on (limited memory) computers.

To build even a single cell from nothing would require so much more than the entire man-made computing energies on earth.

The nuclear bombs are just colliding already existing atoms and the destructive power is just the byproduct of that process, which is still not fully understood.

Our greatest achievement is to rig something up to fall apart, (basically new ways of throwing stones and fire) and putting faith in processed tree bark (money) to run our lives...

Micro-organisms must be laughing at us... We puff out our chests and declare ourselves masters of the universe...only to be gradually decomposed to base soil components...by the same organisms that we ignore everyday, that make up more of us than us of them... Aaahhh the futility of the human struggle against nature...

A friend of mine, Oyawoye made up a beautiful poem for me. I hope it doesn't make me look vain but I am putting it up anyway. Props to you Oyawoye...

AFRICAN SPEECH

Your voice, your thoughts, your wisdom
paints silence with eloquent resonance.
You were an element of surprise.
My un-expecting soul was instantly refreshed.
I found solace in your words and
warmth there in.

My eyes smiled with every line
Angels winged are not enough
To carry
a soul of verse as you.

The sun shines because of you
And
The moon glows so you can be seen.
The wind blows,
so
your essence
can touch many.

But
At the moment
that I hear your words
And breathe your speech
You belong to me.

To my brother, African Speech

Oyawoye
