The Creole Flag

Designed by Pete Bergeron in 1987 and adopted by C.R.E.O.L.E., Inc., a Lafayette based African-American heritage preservation group, the Flag of Louisiana Creoles represents the cultural melting pot that is the Louisiana Creoles.

By adopting the Creole flag, C.R.E.O.L.E., Inc. upholds its mission statement, "to identify, preserve and promote the numerous aspects of the Creole culture of southwest Louisiana.

Creole - Creole is the racial mixture of Spanish, French, Native American, and African American and in some cases Haitian. These are the decendents of the Spanish and French settlers who came and settled in the Gulf States. What is now known as cajun country mainly in the Louisiana and Texas region. There is much history and many disputed facts about Creole and the Creole people you can read a little history on that in the link below also there are other sites where youcan look up history and facts about the Creole people if interested.
