ABOUT ME!

First and Foremost, let me say that I am deeply in love with my Lord and Savior. I have been through alot in my life, had alot of ups and downs, and people have come and gone: But the one that has has remained consistent is God's faithfulness. I truly adore Him and I am fully devoted to fulfilling His plan and purpose for my life. If you don't already know Him, then I urge you to become acquianted with Him. There is no one quite like Him.

"A woman's Heart should be so buried in Christ that a man has to seek God to find it."

"There's no place like home" - Dorothy

To know me is to love me...well, at least that`s what i think lol. Born and raised in Inglewood/Los Angeles, California. I am a 2003 graduate of Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES) and I am now attending Howard University in DC where I am majoring in television production and minoring in theater arts.

"I got alot of living to do before I die and I don't have time to waste"

That is probably the first and last time I will ever quote 50 cent lol, but at this point in my life those words speak volumes. I think that one of the biggest mistakes that most people make in their lifetime is compromising on their standards. I can gladly admit that when it comes to this thing called life, I dont necessarily have it all together, I make mistakes daily, and I am forever learning. But I thank God that I have finally come to a place in my life where I know who I am, I know what I want, and I know what is not for me. I am extremely busy and focused on elevating myself & achieving my goals. It is my desire to use my talents and gifts to serve God, give back to my community, and to honor the blood, sweat, and tears of my ancestors.

"Be such a man, and live such a life, that if every man were such as you, and every life a life like yours, this earth would be Paradise."
~ Phillip Brooks

I am a finer woman of the illustrious organization known as Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Representing with the quintessential ladies of Alpha Chapter, the mother pearl. Much love to my oh so dovely and BLUE-tiful sorors & my dashing and distinguished brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

I would also like to extend some Greek love to all other NPHC orgs. Continue to set a standard and exemplify honor & integrity in all that u do. Your founders would expect nothing less.

...but don't forget why there is a blue sky and white clouds that you look up to ;-) lol jk

LIKES!

1) Jesus. No, wait, let me clarify that. Jesus is not one of my "likes", but he is one of my "loves". I am in awe and overwhelmed to know that a king so righteous and holy would step down from his throne, call me a friend, and die for me. There is no greater love.

2) black movies &tv shows. *My favs*: The Cosby Show, A Different World, Martin, Living Single, Soul Food, The Color Purple, The Wiz, Coming to America, What`s Love Got to do With it? Oh...What Not to Wear, Food Network, Futurama, South Park, Reno 911, and Family Guy aren't too bad either...even tho they don't exactly fall into the "black" category lol.

3) Singing/music - As you can see from my playlist at the bottom of the page, my music taste is somewhat ecclectic. I like a little bit of everything. I have a love for soul music, lyrics of substance, and strong vocals, but as long as I can vibe to it then i'm not going to discriminate. *Fav artists:* Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, Gladys Knight, India Arie, Raheem Devaughn, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Lupe Fiasco, Jazmine Sullivan, Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond,...ok this could go on foreva!

4) African/African American Studies - I love my culture. Know ya history black people. You cannot truly know yourself, unless you know where you came from.

5) Reading - Reading is fundamental folks. Black people I encourage you, PLEASE pick up a book. *Authors I admire*:Carter G. Woodson, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, Ralph Ellison, Sistah Souljah, Terry McMillan, and this list just goes...

6) Writing - Whether its poetry, a song, a journal entry, or just scribble scrabble lol...it's truly fulfilling. *writers I admire*: Nikki Giovonni, Zora Neale Hurston *HU alumni & Soror*, Langston Hughes, and Claude McKay

7) laughter - that is a stress reliever right there. Ever laugh so hard your stomach started hurtin and your eyes filled with tears? One of the best feelings.

8) Visual arts - I love seeing plays, watching all types of movies, going to museums, jazz clubs, poetry cyphers, looking at art, or even just enjoying beautiful scenery. Sometimes the simplest things are the most impacting.

9) Random lil things - Styling (hair, make up, & fashion), cooking (yes, I can throw down lol), caribbean passion from Jamba Juice, animals, photography, cheese, chicken, orange juice, jeans, flip flops, people watching, LA weather, inside jokes (that i'm in on lol), vintage clothing, people that smile and say "hi "when u make eye contact with em, driving down Crenshaw Blvd with no traffic, etc.

DISLIKES!

1) Prejudice - I will never be able to comprehend how someone can have hatred for another because of their race, class, or gender.

2) Immaturity- As the Word says "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man(woman), I put away childish things. " - 1 Corinthians 13:11.

3) I can`t stand little Bebe kids who run a muck and are disrespectful. I'm not one in favor of child abuse, but at some point certain children need to be snatched up and have their tails tapped. Unruly kids grow into unruly adults and lawd knows that's the last thing the world needs more of.

4) People with no MANNERS (those that don`t say "excuse me" "yes ma`am or sir" "thank you" "you`re welcome" and "please"). Come on folks, these are just the basic fundamentals that should (key word SHOULD) come with decent home training. Oh...and whatever happened to chilvary? If it is really dead then it needs to be revived with a quickness.

5) Disrepect - I hate it in all forms, but I find it HIGHLY irritating to hear Black men and women calling each other out of their names and objectifying one another for personal gratification. Do you not know that your are the descendents of KINGS and QUEENS? Treat each other as such. Let`s get higher people!

6) ignorance - Some folks truly need to elevate their minds. UNCF said it best with "A mind is a terrible thing to waste". Homie, how are you going to check somebody, if you can`t even check your own grammar?

7) Obsenity - From the internet, to the media, and to music, our society is filled with vulgar language, half naked bodies, drug consumption (yes...weed included lol), and violence. I truly don't get the fascination over it.

8) conceit & arrogance - Humility is a virtue. Appreciate yourself, but don`t use your beauty to belittle others. A horrible attitude can make even the most appealing person look like boo boo. No really lol

9) superficial/shallow people - There is more to life than temporary gratification. Material things and looks barely even scratch the surface of all the beauty that life has to offer. I'd take swimming in the deep end of the ocean over playing in puddles (sleep on it..u might get that one tomorrow lol)

10) Random lil things - most vegetables, all kinds of SMOKE (cigarettes, weed,...smog lol), insects indoors, humidity, abuse, boredom, perverts, craving for a particular food but not havin an item to go with it (cereal/no milk, peanut butter/no jelly lol), math, dudes that try to holla at females on the street by sayin "ay girl" "pssst" "yo ma, come ere" "ay jeans", seeing a cute outfit/shoes in every size but mine, being waken up from a good sleep, etc.

OUTRO

Aight black folks. I'm gonna do this like Boys 2 Men and leave ya'll at the end of the road. Yeah...i know...it`s a sad occassion. But ya'l will be aight. Keep ya head up. lol.

Someone once said, "if you don`t want a Black person to know something, put it in a book." Kinda stings a lil bit doesn't it? Well, the ironic part is...some of us are speaking life into those racist words. We have access to books, an education, and knowledge, yet some of us still act as though we are allergic to literacy. Lets try to prove the stereotype wrong kinfolk. I know it`s all about the pics on bp, but why waste time asking me a question that could simply be answered by skimming over my page?Trust me READING IS FUNDAMENTAL! K, i'll stop ranting now and go back to being "kind hearted" :-)
