Hey yall, I`m a college freshman music major, a focused young woman living her life to the fullest but learning all she can during the process. And I love my Naturally Nappy Hair!!!! I spend most of my time with stuff either related to my music, my culture, my community, my education, or my ministry. But when I DO kick it, I enjoy dancing, skating, bowling, spoken-word events, and basketball games. Only looking for friendship, only real ones need apply.


Vibes

Chillin
feelin your voice caress my soul
`though you ain`t nowhere near me, I fear we still vibin`
outta control
amor prohibido`s what I`ve been told we are, but
if we`re so wrong why do I.....sigh when
I hear one of our songs on the radio...Jaded, still blowed
from the haze of our quasi-effervescent my-first-love
phase
separated from your loving embrace
I turn sickly
respect you `cause you let me set the physical pace. Glad you picked me.
Transmit these emotions to paperand something gets
lost in translation, the spirit of it gets vaporized, so i`d
rather kiss you not TOO quickly...
let you inhale my meaning
look into your eyes for a sign u
comprehend what my words can`t say
kinda like how some get that tingle in their
knee if it`s gon rain today.
And I know
you understand, from the way your fingertips are tracing
the palm of my hand

Materialism

By the end of the day
I`ma be pulling my hair out
I can`t bear the monotony
of cafe `au lait faces
of bourgeouis composition
a sneer veneered under
cool disposition
comparing me to their
ever-changing slide rule, rendering me inconsistent
to their standard of what someone with
my face should be
Shocked expressions on theirs
upon discovery that in addition
to hip hop, I like rock & rock
my individuality as proudly as any
walking poster in Malibu city
knowin he pretty
conversation full of sidity remarks
as he embarks on his
next shopping spree
I`d rather be free
live of my own witty volition
not let material possesions
rule my disposition
I`d rather be me
my worth is more than my shoes
inevitably
he`ll come to see that
by refusing todelve any deeper
than fabric
he tragically
missed the chance to
get cool with
a rad chick
by refusing to resist his
judge-by-cover habit
he`s found h imself stuck with
a mad clique of single-faceted
soon-to-be has-beens
with cash to spend
rent-a-center reputations
and disposable friends
expensive shoes covering ashy feet to impress corporate bigheads
to ensure they`ll always make ends meet, but got mad
when I laughed when the FBI
repo`d Kevin`s Benz fleet


And to my ladies....

What`s the purpose of trying to succeed, tryingto supercede the negative beliefs the majority believe, perpetuated by a minority of those belonging to my pan-community?yes, when the so-called "sistahs" of mine`s conduct leave me with clenched teeth

who prance around with purses from Gucci, sidezips of which holdin not much more than ligloss and keys, settling for under-par treatment from men who don`t want much more than 26 minutes of a thigh squeeze, willing to slip in and out of their jeans for these men`s G`s? Legal prostitution that makes it hard for those like me

who would do almost anything for 26 minuts of a mind squeeze. Nevermind Gs, let`s talk about Jesus current events your professor`s thesis can I get some intellectual stimuli, please?

but these same "sistahs" want to complain when they find out their man is a sleaze.


I`m expected to show YOU sympathy while you are undermining what I`M trying to achieve? Call me back when you cease reducing womanhood to the simplistic singularity of sexuality

Blessings

My Heavenly father Jehovah has blessed me
His Spirit pervades through my life
The guidance I find in the Bible protects me
It sooths when i encounter strife
He`s showed me which road leads to Life Everlasting
and warned me where obstacles lay
It`s cramped, and it`s narrow, but I love my God,
So I`ll walk with him everyday

-My Heavenly Father Jehovah has blessed me
with priviledges beyond compare.
He`s promised me freedom from sin and
won`t let me
be tempted beyond what I can bare.
The food that he feeds me is always
on time, and his lifewater
quenches my thirst
If one day it seems I`m nowhere to be found, inside his
temple courtyards look first

with family the wide world around. Up North and Down South, from the East to the West, See!
The name of Jehovah resounds!
He`s urged us to heed his commands
and teach others that through
Jesus salvation lays.
It`s hard to stay faithful,
but I love my God, so I`ll walk
with him everyday.
