What I am is A Strong Proud Black Man!

He is and has been the toughest man that ever lived, and has never takena drink. He was born with a very brilliant mind but sometimes don'tthink. He's pimped his ride around the world several times wit' thatcross-country pimpin', he has fought the police here and there andsometimes came up limpin'.

He's been locked up, locked down, locked in, and locked out, most of hislife. But he has rolled wit' the punches, and has defeated the strife.Many times he's touched the sky but never has been on an intoxicatinghigh. He has watched soul brothers and sisters give up, just lie downand die. He goes to war 'til death against his proud brother, and thenhe has much love for his brother's beloved mother. He has seen needlesdestroy lives with fierceness...and he'll tell you, he was one of themeanest of them all but refused to take that trip, or accept thattempting pierce.

He has witnessed so many of his younger brothers and sisters gettingiced by AIDS because of unsafe sex, drugs, dirty needles, andblood-stained razor blades. He has known troubles like his enslavedproud strong fathers and brothers, and has known Pain like his enslavedbeautiful proud strong sisters and mothers.

Because of them and their shedding blood to this day he proudly reigns.He was torn away from his loving family like a frightened slave childwho kept hope alive for the longest while. He has migrated from southernpoverty cities to northern cities Pity, rats, roaches and ghetto slums.He has sold dope to the rich, and has slept and eaten at missions wit'Bums. He has journeyed from welfare to millionaire. He is and has beenthe four P's, Pimp, Pastor, Politician, and the Police.

He is and has been full of it...pride, talent, skillz, hope, and %#&@$!.Hell you name it he can claim it. He's got much game! But can't seem tobreak yesterday's slum chains. Stone cold steel cells inside of downsouth, and up north segregated jails turned him into a bitter man. Butfate and faith showed him that he could forget all that drama and stillbe part of the Savior's Plan. He has been down and out in the smallcountry and the big city. He has been praised and he has been pitied. Hehas been too sick to die and sometimes too afraid to cry.

The brother was on the scene stuntin' when a variety of Rap and Hip-Hopjoints and their lyrical content provided wealth and prosperity to somany of us. But then like a murdering demon he allowed the art to becomelike a killer of us, bloodthirsty, mean, and creating much distrust,sometimes ending a proud parents precious dream. He was also there when Old School Rhythm and Blues Entertainers gave uptheir vision chase 'cause of that whole damn "it's all about youthculture scene." Hell, ending someone else life-long dream. He was inWatts back in the day when it burned like a field of dry wheat. Oh yeah,home boy threw the first stone, and just like a vicious Black Pantherdeep into the ghetto he was gone.

He was in New York on 9/11 with a big powerful life-saving hand whenAmerica became one and would not retreat, while standing victorious overdefeat. Oh yeah, Katrina, he was there too, in the Big Easy, doing someawfully bad things, and some things that were mighty good. Oh yeah, inhis own 'hood.

He has stood on 'Frisco's tallest hills during his playin' years whilecomforting his baby girl whose face was like an ocean because of hermany tears. He is and has been a menace to society, and as for women,he's had a variety. But his ultimate dream is to have peace and harmonywith his beautiful, original, ebony queen.

While constantly letting her know that he is not as bad as some insociety makes him seem. His Mother, his Sisters, and his Women, hebelieves are as strong, precious, and beautiful today as the createdNubian Eve was back in the day, and this he proudly says. No matter whathe'll do, sister he'll always be a reflection of you, and you of him,too. He has done dirt in the 'hood true enough, but he has also donesome good. Don't be confused; he's not glorifying any of his terrible past wrongs.

But they were there among the little bit of good that he has done, whichhave made him very strong. Why is he so proud? Because no matter howmuch wrong he has done in his life as a man, he is and will always bethe Savior's child. His life will always be in the Almighty's hand, andthat my people will never ever change, go out of style, or disband.

He is alive! He has persevered! He has weathered life's terrible storms!He has survived! Even when the naked soul of his existance is on thebrink of distruction the brothers gon' work it out, no doubt. He missed out on the Dirty South's brutal slave trade only because hewasn't there. Although he declares he should have been as a hater ofslavery enforcing his inherent bravery.

However, he still ended up in its' damn Dixie Delta, Jim Crow parade, ahundred years later gawking at and sizing up the instigators, and justwaiting for the chance to become the terminator. And in spite of all thebull%#&@$! American Pie that he's often faced with and sometimes forced totry, he is still the original human being. He is still the greatest ofall things, he is still A Prince, he is still A King. He is still ....
