My almost 10 cents on why some 42-45% of black women are not married

Posted

Peace & Blessings family.

The conversation that started early in the week ending  Feb. 21 on the Warren Ballintine radio show about why there are more never married black women (in percentage) as opposed to Caucasian women stirred me up a bit.

I got me fired up mostly do to the lack of verifiable data that gave the topic any real weight as it applies to a black woman seeking... (continue reading)

Peace family,

I started this blog to be a reply to a comment to a question in a forum but decided to expand on it on my on blog, in providing my opinion and sharing my personal experience  as it applies to  starting a "goods and services" business out here in a down economy.

In these hard times should we seek a job or start a business?

2009 the year of the Ox: Racist cookies and T-shirts have little impact on resilience!

Posted

Peace Family,

In the recent news links on BP,  there is a link to an  article about some baker in the big apple making " drunken negro face" cookies.  The responses are typical, black folk getting angry, but not more than enough.

Also featured were pictures of t-shirts that had images of nooses, banana eating monkeys, and other Jim Crow era caricatures. Is that the best they can come up with?... (continue reading)

Peace Family,

I would like to first like to extend my gratitude to those that got out and voted for  your interest this election season.  As far as the history of the season, there are a few more things that need to be done to seal the deal and after that, its history. However the case, after 1/20/09 it will be about getting the job done.

It's no question that President elect Obama will do a good if not a outstanding... (continue reading)

To my global family:

"Welcome to the desert of the Real"

PEACE & BLESSINGS!

Thanks to all that enter my realm. Leave your shoes at the door, relax and take your time to absorb what's taking place here in the Dojo.

2009:
The year of the Ox.
The sign of the ox represents prosperity through hard work. The sign is a born leader who is dependable and capable if achieving great things. As one might guess, such people are dependable, calm, and modest. Like their animal namesake, the Ox is unswervingly patient, tireless in their work, and capable of enduring any amount of hardship without complaint.

A fitting symbol in this season of change!

This marks my 10th year on the site and the doors are still open!  So what has my experience on BP been? I can sum it up in one word:

Enlightening.

Things here  for me have been more positive than negative, which is the primary reason the "dojo" has been open for this long.

In my time here, I have been critiqued for such a long winded page. I got used to the criticism long ago. If reading and comprehending more than a paragraph hurts your brain, then you might want to click one of those one word wonder pages featured over on the right hand corner of the screen.

Trust me, it wont hurt my feelings if you did. I am a slow reader, and it takes me all about 12 mins to read my own meanderings, so for  all you college educated book heads, this should be a cake walk!

So as you sit back and wander along whats laid here before you, enjoy the dawn of a new day, a different attitude than what you are used to.

Let me get the business end out there early, since most you wont read the whole page. Outside of the 40-60 work week grind where I trade my life hours for dollars for a local utility, I am the owner/operator of:

Lighting, Live Sound * Music and Audio/Video solutions.

Starting off in the basement back in the day then carrying those technical skills into the military and into the present, I started off putting my skills to work providing A/V Telecommunication Solutions for the home or small offices, then expanded to live entertainment.

I am capable of supporting events both outdoors and indoor.

I support small to average size venues, ranging from backyard house parties to VFD sized halls. My preference is sound support for vocalist and groups. let the performers play and leave the sound and stage work to a professional! I can support up to a 8 piece band with room filling sound and basic stage lighting.

For a more detailed touch, I also offer A/V solutions for PA & Projector support (Power Point Presentations) for public speakers. For bookings, please send a note with a email address for a quiker response. PLEASE do not ask me for a "how much" quote without all the details for your event. Thanks.

Intermission:

To those with inquiring minds:

If you here to date or get a soul mate, this would be a good time to inform you that I am unavailable (by choice).

I have been on BP for a good decade now and I have witnessed that the majority of people here spend more time trying to get with somebody else than we do on building  up our nation and communities. I am not here to pass judgment, we are all victims of attachment, but there needs to be balance.  A meet & greet over a meal and we leave it at that, is fine by me.

However, if your agenda here is exclusively about broom jumping or a  full time shack-up on your mind, sorry to disappoint. I am not one you are trying to get with. My plate, is full at this time in my life. When it comes to matters of the heart, I am much older than I look, and been through just about every hurtle & obstacle when it comes to the matter.

I have had my share of contractual agreements, hopeful potentials, and pretty liars to last me 3 lifetimes. Sounds cold I know, but in the world we live in, there is someone for everyone. No need to make someone love you better. Do you!

The saying:  "Better to have loved and lost it and never had love at all." Might be the way people move about this world, but I'm not buying it. However, it takes challenges in order to grow, and sometimes we all have to pass trough a crucible to reach a higher level if we as a people remain focused on realistic and obtainable goals, we could do so much better for ourselves, our families and our communities. I have come to the conclusion that we spend too much of our lives trying to find, analyze, keep, repair, maintain, retain and to position ourselves to be about someone else. Be about yourself! Hard  truth, as much as you try to become a priority to someone else (relationship wise) you will simply be one of their options. Stay focused on your priorities: Let's stop with the "all about me  mess and raise these kids! Even if they not yours, raise them; You don't want to be the bitter auntie or the crazy uncle either! Take care of your extended family, establish your career; Even if you are willing to be a bum for love, having some potential WILL make a difference in the future. If someone truly loves you, they will work with you as you reach towards the mutual goals you both set. Do not be the albatross (burden) for someone to bear.

Fix yourself before you ever try to be complete with someone else!

A rule I have learned to live by: Have fun, but do not "fall" in love. Falling  along with slips, and trips have injured more people physically and emotionally  than all the guns in the world, so don't make LOVE  a accident!

Life is a game, and to  get through it you have to be willing to PLAY.

No one cheats to loose, but all games have rules. either play fair or just write your own rules!

In conclusion with this session, I am about fun and happiness, no more, no less. If make no time for the paperback romance, I will have no time for anyone's head games.

That not enough for you, do me a favor and "Walk on by" to a Burt Bacharach tune as I "Keep my head to the  sky"  & "Keep on Moving" to a EWF / Soul II Soul remix.

Love  life  as well as yourself!

Now let me shift the laser beam back to some REAL talk and "edutainment".

The story thus far...
"IF YOU EVER WANT TO HIDE SOMETHING FROM A NEGRO, PUT IT IN A BOOK."
As the old saying goes. It annoyed me the first time I heard it, and ever since, I have read until my eyes became permanently bloodshot!

Reading is fundamental.

Since I mentioned it, whatever happened to the R.I.F. bookmobiles? Some of you peepers, need to get in line, jump in and grap  a free read!

Just being me, I have lived against what my adversary believes is just how I was raised and became to be. Well, here is my book, easy to read, not too cryptic I hope, and its open to the center so you can go both back and forwards at you leisure.  If you cant find the answers then you not looking hard enough or just being lazy (smile). Whats going on here with me? Two words:

DOLLARS & SENSE

Not a typo. Not the jingly type I'm talking about the common kind. If you not utilizing this medium to network to get paid in some form of fashion then you are not making sense to me! But read on, you might learn how it's done.
I will give you a pass if you just tired, but if you got it that rough, go take a nap and check back when you are awake and can absorb some knowledge.
See if you can find the truth in plain sight in the dojo.
I will entertain questions through notes, but before you be asking me questions like my last names is Mr. Google or some nonsense, be at least open enough to share something about yourself! I do not take well to interrogations. I want to start with a survey to see where your head is, just based on a first impression:

Not your usual cut and paste quotes:

The Essence of Survival
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed...
Every morning, a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.

It does not matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle... When the sun comes up, you better be running!

Ever get the feeling you caught in the GULF STREAM of life? Has the winds of the world broke your mast, rudder & tore your sails? Are you in a rough sea full of sharks? Between u and a possible rescue & dry land is a storm headed your way... What do you do?

Survive.

What did you expect, some hallmark inspirational or quote from the bible? OK here's one: Matt. 7:15. Read it and digest it.

If pretty posters and a cute sayings are  all it takes to motivate you, you probably have a very easy job. The kind robots will be doing soon.

 Are you red with this?

Cool. Lets move along.

The Theme:

The "Dojo" was a concept I came up with while I was stationed in Japan in 1999, but it didn't make it's way to  BP until a year later, after I learned the "art" of HTML and packaged a message. After sitting back and hooking up dozens of other members web pages over the early years on BP, I took time to see what everyone was doing and say and I simply had to do it different!

My page Is an Eclectic degree of Comprehensiveness, which is intended to provoke thought and generate discussion from the intelligent, and enlightened. Still asking the question:

Are you in the MATRIX or world of the real?

Better check your head, you just might be plugged into some illusion & false reality.

Web geeks: Ever wondered if you could ever fill up the personal message box & express yourself in most of your own words, be relevant to topics and issues? Here is how you do it.

The Basics:
Born on Earth (That I sometimes doubt).

Raised in the "corner" of N.E. DC were PG county is just across the street (Ward 7). If you know the area spanning from the Shrimp Boat to Melvin's Crab House, then you know my side of town! Big up 2 my fellow ZULU Warriors of H.D. Woodson a.k.a. The Tower of Power (c/o`88)

I Still rep The RED, The BLACK & The GREEN!
The school is demolished, but the warrior spirit remains! I've been in and out of the DC area over the past 38 years... For better or worst, I am thankful to the ONE that I have made it to this point in one piece!

Just a random Thought

(originally written 10/06)

I have taken notice that powers that be and the media take notice to numbers; Be it in the volume of those in march, a riot or the amount of dollars in a bank account. The US census says there is an estimated 37.9 million people of African descent in the U.S.

That's close to half of BP's memberships. We should have long since made these numbers work to a collective benefit.

Here's the proposal:

If only 50% of this site membership (About 7.8 million members) were to come up with $12 each ($1 a month) that would be: $93.6 million dollars. Double that number to equal that of the listed memberships, or $2 of a participating 7.8 million and we looking at 187 million dollars ANNUALLY.

Bring in more of the nation (regardless of race) and you would be looking at a whole lot more. In 5 years time, we are looking at 1 Billion dollars easy.

That money collected could be used for a whole list of thing what we need to do in our communities nationally as well as globally.

I hear the mouths rambling about seeing a black man (or woman) in the White House in the not so distant future...

You think charm, kissing babies, handshakes, "speaking well" and a Best Selling book is the only things he or she are going to need to get that person elected? When they come asking for cash, what you going to put on it?

I think a few Million towards a few agendas will get you message across loud and clear! and do not act like it's not already taking place

Of course, there is the matter of electing a board of trustees, establishing a treasury and allowing everyone that puts a dime in at a say. No, I am not going to wait on the usual talking heads that supposed to represent "my community" to get out in front... Sheep cannot lead shepherds regardless how hard they try.

So I say to you my peers, all of my college educated, well paid and professional BP members, why we cant do this in our spare time?

I dropped the idea, and I would kick off the first 12-dollar donation. Who's next?

**Note: the first person to write me with the crab barrel , "it cant happen" attitude / excuse as to why it cant happen, you have just nominated yourself for BAMMA of the year in my book!

No excuses. Just Act.

One dollar a month people, you got that stuck in between the seat cushions!

It's nice to dream sometime...

Back to reality...Oh well.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste.

From here to there and back again...

I have done some things to get to this point and the road has never been easy.

I am not your average shade tree hustle man, trust me. Since I am here to promote self reliance and determination in others, I'll list a few skills I have taken up thus far:

School Daze: Custodian, Supply Clerk, Child Care Aide, and of course, a food court fast food worker. I think I paid my dues and did the work "we folk" don't want to do! Thanks to former DC mayor Marion Barry and the Summer Youth & In-school programs that gave me my fist paycheck at 15 years old! Contrary to all his faults, he did more for D.C.'s youth that came up in the 80's than most of his peers across the country and the rest of the DC mayors that have followed him... Kind of sad when you look back and think of it... Note: (Don't underestimate a convicted crack user.)Trust this, had I not had those chances how small & menial a task they where, I might have done something grimy to get mine. Note: The CHOICES one makes in his/her life is usually based on their OPTIONS.

Veteran of the U.S. Marines. 12 years of honorable service.

A 3rd generation devil dog, with some soldiers, sailors and airmen on the side. The men in my family have put in service to this nation even when this place has not gave a donuts hole about us. WW2, Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf. We been there, got the t-shirts and the scars to prove we paid our dues.

Somethings I did with my time: Communication Systems Chief (Radio, Wire) Marksmanship Instructor, Fitness Instructor, Recruiter, and even a little bit of Prisoner Escorting if the call came in to do the deed.

wire-honcho is not a gimmicky screen name, but a title translated and earned. While training with some of Japan's best in Kyushu back in '98,The interpreter assigned to work with me started by calling me "Wire-Honcho", it fit then, so I kept it as a symbol of respect.

Anyone ever stationed in JP knows honcho translates to boss or "chief" . Rarely will a low ranking Gaijin (a black one at that) earn that kind of respect in such a short amount of time. Considering I was the only enlisted person with a crew, someone considered me important enough! Now you know.

The most asked question I get asked on and off line is "why didn't stick out to retirement?

Destiny had it that I move on to bigger challenges. That's my way of looking at it now.

Perhaps by my demeanor I don't seem too hard and tough (all depends who you ask). I gave a many young Marine hell so when my time hit, I took my bumps like a man and kept getting up on the morning and leading like nothing ever happened. Fall down. Get up, and continue to march. Sound familiar? (I far from being a saint. I'm just a man determined not to fail. When times get tough boring and mundane, it's good to be able to look back at some exciting

To my fellow Devil Dogs and the rest of you supporting the effort of "survival": Stay motivated, Do whatever it takes to get back alive. Fugg the press. Keep all the weapons at your disposal (your minds) clean, sharp and ready, and get your crusty dusty butts home as whole and as sane as possible. That is a direct order!

Semper Fi!

Quote 2 take note of:

"No leader should put troops into the field merely to gratify his own spleen; no leader should fight a battle simply out of pique. But a kingdom that has once been destroyed can never come again into being; nor can the dead ever be brought back to life. Hence the enlightened leader is heedful, and the good leader full of caution."

Sun Tzu

Into the now:

I am Sr.Instrumentation/ Electronics Technician for one of the nations largest water & wastewater utility serving 2 counties in the DC suburban area. It's work, not my career. However the matter, I have a positive spin on what I do: Most of the crap have to deal with washes off! better to be a grunt (still) than deal with the B.s. and interoffice politics any day!:D Top that, staying active, keeps me in shape, can't beat that.

Work out here in the "world" is not much of a challenge, but it beats fighting fake wars... But then again, that all depends on how much they pay for dodging bullets these days. I might go merc if this 5/40 just over broke and my business does not pan out.

I just took a break from a 7 day work week (16 yrs.) so I now find it strange getting up early on the weekends and not I have to clock on at some short time, getting home late night every weekend. The body told that mind to stop therefore I did. Some would still call me a workaholic, I call myself determined. I have my reasons and priorities. Trading time for dollars is just a formality we must face. I wont complain about the system (the man) 4 not giving my proper due, or undervaluing my skills. It's been that way for 400+ years here, so why stress? Along with all my priorities, my tools, toys and hobbies cost $$$$ and then some. I am also allergic to being broke & having deflated pockets!

For self: I grab a few bones here and there doing: Firearms Instruction/Gunsmith, Telecomm Systems Consultant, Landscaper/Tree Trimmer, and the latest endeavor, DJ/ Live Sound & Stage Lighting (See blog). And before you ask, no I am not Jamaican, but I do believe if you only got one J.O. B. (just over broke) and you complaining or got and excuse for not having a positive cash flow.... You Layzee! lol

All this said thus far, This is not a brag sheet. This is a IN YOUR FACE and public rebuttal to all those that say that "we" are dumb and/or LAZY, don't read (hint) and don't want to do hard work these days. Some of us are still able to get up in the morning, work our butts off and put in a honest hustle on to make it. When the next village idiot comes out and says: "they (illegal immigrants) are here to do the work that even black folks do not want to do", I say: Stop undervaluing us & PAY us what we are worth!

I still get my PT in, and I live by a single motto:

So if you looking for a light weight, feel good trainer, You are looking in the WRONG place!

The Attitude:

Just being me. If you already made the assessment to think I got my butt high up on my back I ask, please do not mistake the self-confidence presented for arrogance. Suggestion if u feel intimidated, put your inferiority complex in check, & rise 2 the challenge! No silver spoon here, grew up in a 1 paycheck away from being homeless family, I survived the streets and all the temptations to not take the slow road to success an I had 2 be the front-runner of some ruff & ready warriors 4 way 2 long 2 be humbled easily, and I have beat a many of my personal demons to pulps. I know a good number of people that I looked up to that fell to the wayside or worst, ended their own life over less stressful situations, so please excuse my pride in showing off a bit.

I am someone that's oftentimes cynical, a tad morbid sense of humor (I am a jarhead, so sue me!) but always positive! I can hold a conversation with folks from all walks of life. One more note: If you come at me wrong, well let me not make any threats here.... I'll let the picture show speak for me. Just understand I have been a paid trouble-shooter for 20 years so i can fix any problem that steps my way.... technically, legally or otherwise.

BP Friends, past present & future:

The way I arrange my friends is simple, When I was a "church kid", the brothers (deacons) sat up front and to the left of the pulpit. But just like my old church, once you look past the first 2 rows, the rest were the sisters, and usually a 50:1 ratio! Who says I cant drop a little symbolism? lol

*Note about my friends listed...

If you got issues to the ratio of females that are linked to my page, get over it. This is not Honcho's Harem or a Pimp Named Honcho (Say the whole phrase like a Tribe Called Quest) We are all grown ups (I hope). If you need a lesson on how to act mature online, check my blog on the topic.

I call this the DOJO for a reason. A place you learn, sharpen one's skills and abilities. If you come with ignorance and disrespect, just be aware what happens to those that disgrace such a place, you could end up like a bad guy in a old school kung-fu  flick!

The Techniques:

I am a spiritual person, and have no problem with entering the doors of any place of sanctuary to gain enlightenment. I push but do not pull and tow people along. I believe in charity and I help many but will not enable. I will buy a beggar a 5 dollar meal, but I will not give them a dime in his hand. On the road to life there are 3 things I know are certain:

1. All Wheel Drive is mandatory.

2.The road to hell is paved with lots of good intentions. Invest in a G.P.S.

That is a: God Positioning System and stay on course.

3. No one rides for free. The "hear after " is not a place for lethargic souls, and we were not born into this world to live "shelterd" lives.  so go ahead and pay your "dues"here. Quit your hiding, live your life to the fullest. If you truly beleive, then you are well aware your misteps, detours, and trainwrecks will all be forgiven!

4. On the other side of the road, and going the wrong way? If you waiting for the sweet chariot to roll up like a tow truck or the SOUL train to carry you home, be prepared to have your ticket punched! Get on the right track daily, because you never know when you might have your number called!

5. Walk it out & take a knee from time to time. Even  a street toughened, battle hardened ready to rumble brother of the warrior caste like me can be humble and bow  my head & fall to my knees- Each and everyday. (How you think I make it this far?)

I share allot of information, but not everything is for everyone. So if I don't mention it here, all you need to do is ask. The answer will be shared if you come correct unless it's classified. So what else do you want to know? If you ask tactfully I might tell u.

I AM HERE TO ENLIGHTEN & UPLIFT MY GLOBAL FAMILY.

So if there is other stuff you want to know like my height (177.8 cm), weight (93kg), shoe size (29.2cm), and all that, There you go. Figure it out. Now I got to ask you a question: When will my tailored suit be ready for pick up?

For real people, this is not a dating site.. Ok I could spin  a few tales  about BP tail, but I don't kiss and tell, ya dig? lol

As the internet goes, there is a place for everything, and there are many venues to PLAY if you get down like that. Although this site has been a recreational distraction for me, I for one have a mission to get paid here! I have never viewed BP as that kind of place. I do not crap where I eat, nor date where I draw a paycheck.

Fellas, most of  you would better off posting a Resume up and get a JOB than to date a real woman here! Ladies, save all that breast, hip and rump measurement stuff for your doctor at your next physical!

If your IQ is not within a -/+ 10 point scale range in the sum of your total measurements, (ex. 36+30+38=104 add 10 pts of you petite), You and I woud have problems! lol Jokes aside, if you are worth knowing, then your physical attributes wont matter. If you still hard pressed, go over to findabamma.com and get your soul mate!

Out of all the pages I have visited in my years on campus, no one has yet posted their IQ level or their degree of sanity up! (as if an idiot or an insane person would actually tell the truth).

And no, your 5 asscioate degrees do not impress me! A+ trancripts don't mean jack if you have the personality of a tree stump, or your social skills were passed on you from the dark ages! No kidding ya'll, if you press up a pair of 62EEE's in a dudes face even in the 21st century, he IS going to like you! So get real with yourself!

Some peeps here could get paid for their looks alone, but get face to face with them, they are as dizzy as a bat in the daytime and nuttier than a bag of trail mix! Don't get mad if i'm talkng about you, I'm just stating facts.

No names, no blames.

The What:

Mature yet youthful... Note that the pics featured here cover the last 32 years. My blackness covers all degrees: African-(Native)American is what my DNA markers claim that's within... Not every "native" looked like the logo on the Washington football team helmet either! (So at least part of me belongs here, like it or not!) Speaking of, how many actually know what the Native Americans of the east coast looked like anyway? They were killed off about the same time the "other half" of us became a trade able commodity. On the surface, I'm darker than a paper bag, so I probably would had not made it into Howard U. back in the old days. I wear the hue of:

It's obvious enough, but folks like to have that confectionery/food comparison when it comes to skin colors so i gave you the image. When comes to the mind, body & spirit, I flow like the lyrics of Junior Kelly's song: "BLACK AM I". Abilities: Highly Skilled & Educated... No superhero here but when you sum me up...

Equals: DANGEROUS 2 some, & a leader/teacher 2 others! A lack of a better term, I have been considered a "undereducated" genius. Considering that people like me wind up finding the cures for deadly ailments to ruling nations be is by the soft hand or iron fist, to discovering new ways to blow up the planet at the push of a button, I really don't know if I should take that as a compliment or an insult! But since a whole long list of black inventors & entrepreneurs in our history didn't get a college degree before they made it into the history books (in a good way), I think I'm on the right track.

Competitive by nature, and a sportsman at heart, win or lose, I do my thing :

Run

Not as much as I used to, but i can still move.. No  lazy walks on the beach here! Try 26.2 miles one Sunday morning just for kicks, and yes, go to work the next day! Granted its been a while since I put it down like in the pic,  but I still got the legs! Not bad for the kid that never made the teams in school, huh?

Bike

Used to ride all over as a kid, so it was only a matter of time when i would put my skills  to the test! So you like lazy weekend bike rides you say? Try somewhere from 3 to 140 miles just for something to do, so pack a lunch! (stage 1 of 4 races, Hawaii Mountain Tour '96)

Shoot

Just about everything... Guns arrows, pool balls too.  Would you expect any thing  less  from a true Sagittarius? Before you call the feds on me, know that I am competitive marksman at the national level (since 1986), certified firearms instructor and sometimes train law enforcement folks how to shoot what they SHOULD be aiming at. If you are not aware whats it all about without all the crazy man with a gun hype & propaganda, take a class, educate yourself on the real history about black folks with guns and live outside of the fear and stereotypes.)

When I do take a break from a my 7 day work week and the urge hits me, I disappear from the rat race and relax at my home in the boondocks do some meaningful chores....

At my tiny shack of a house on my acre lot. Yes, this is JUST my front yard, and there's more in the back! Note: For those still squawking about getting your 40 acres and a mule, tell you what, buy just 1 and see if you can maintain it! This grass does not cut itself! Suggestion, of you cant do your own yard work or have never had to tend to growing things in your life, stick to the cul de sacs and condos! Nothing wrong with paying rent (i.e. someone else's mortgage).

It's not hard to go deeper into the wilderness for camping or hit the nearby waterways.

Note: Unless it is an emergency, do not waste your cell phone minutes calling if the gone fishing sign is hanging on the door!

I live the life of a true Sagittarius.

What can I say about ball sports that "we" are stereotyped as being naturally good at? None of them hold do not hold my interest.

Main reason:

I HATE BEING STEREOTYPED!

Sike, I can play some and watch a little, but I do not care about one team over the other, who's losing, and I do not give a dozen glazed donuts about some players background & career stats! Frankly, that's too much info on another dudes life for me. Claim to be a man? then don't cry on TV over losing a game, then you are a certified and licensed bamma in my book! It's just a game!!!

The person that brings it right & rough wins. The one that has nothing to lose and everything to gain will play harder ANY GIVEN SUNDAY.

The scrap book:

After some notable travels...

Where have you been?

I lived in Hawaii for 9 years, ('92-'01).

After that chapter in my book ended,I came back the the home town in some part. I make my pay around the DC beltway, but daily I retreat to my self-imposed exile out here in The Boondocks of southern MD. I need to balance the Yin & Yang... Only way to keep my sanity in this area!

FYI for the out of towners: Maryland is the northern most state SOUTH of the Mason-Dixon line, so to my friends dropping in form the deep down and dirty south, know that some of us know our roots. Like many of it's residents; Maryland is historically bougie, good or bad, its home and I make the best of it.

One more his-story note:

1600 Penn Ave and all that area know as the Mall was once a plantation. It's a Irony how recent events in Our-Story has played out... Once we could only clean the house, now we going to have some folk that look like us actually live in it! Yes, Change is a good thing!

That about sums it up.

Congradulations you made it! For the 6th year straight, I have heard from people telling me how long it was. I think its a shame! I put enough pictures here to keep even a 1st grader attentive! But  If you made it this far, you earned a gold star!

Some kids & grown ups still need some help! Lend  a hand and read to your kids!

Take a pause here, rub you eyes for a bit or come back later. Check out some of my blogs, pics, music, videos whatever, just put everything back where you found it and please, if you get the last glass of Kool-Aid, be sure to make a fresh picture and leave it for the guest that come after you.

Peace on your way out.  Have a safe one!
