personal message

Hello Planet patrons, to all, God Bless you.

I am here to make friends whenever possible.

God is foremost, the guiding principal in my life, however, I do realize, each and everyone must determine their own relationship with God, and decide for themselves, how important that relationship is in their personal life.

I like to communicate with others. However, I find many of the profiles written on BP verging on fiction. I am totally amazed at the demands expressed, in the types of relationships and individuals, men as well as women expect of those they meet. The expectations of some are outright draconian, to overt frivolousness. I find it hard to believe the number of women and men who present themselves as worthy perspective choices for a relationship. I ask, is your world so bereft of worthy choices in life that you turn to a cyber cite, in hope of finding that that do not exist in the real world? For it is a given that on the net, we present to others what we think that they want to see, and often, not who we actually are. We present an image, an illusion, a vision of life no other but ourselves, know what is true, and what is not true. I assert, are those who proclaim that they are looking for a specific type of person, or relationship, examines their motives and reasons. For you may find that what you seek is only a specter, envisioned in your mind. I know many may disagree with my viewpoint, but discourse is the interaction that informs us that we are human and alive. In this society, words are the only medium we have to express how we feel. Those words should be chosen carefully. For once said, cannot be taken back. They float around in the consciousness of our mind, like the breaking of the wave against the shore.

I like literature. I like how the different authors explore the human condition through our common experiences. And hold up a mirror for us to examine ourselves in the light of reality.

It is why I have returned to school. I will complete my BA degree in English Literature in 2010. The most important lesson I have learned through the readings; we all have the need to feel comforted that God is the one true expression of our humanity.

I received my Associated Degree in Photography in 1978. Therefore, I look at the photos thoroughly. I am not impressed by the image of what the person want others to think who they are. I search the eyes to try and get an insight into who the person may be.

In 2008 I completed my first novel "The Rebel" and plan to write many more.

I enjoy reading and writing poetry. If I do see a poem written on your page, I may critique it. My intent is not to demean or verbally annihilate what is written. My response is only how I feel about what you have expressed.

I do read the profiles posted on every page that I visit. Because I have studied English Literature, I examine the words written down as the expression of the individual.

Here is my tribute to the Black Woman titled.

A Beautiful (The Only) Woman

She is singularly beautiful,

this Woman who is black.

Brown eyes and ebony skin,

wherein gold throughout.

Earth is she...

STRONG, yet so soft.

Maiden oft gentile eyes,

them caressing...reassuring.

Honeyed voice,

from lips nectar laced.

Comforting and caring,

my brow is soothed.

Mother and tender lover is she,

to child, and to man.

How gentile such a hand,

emptiness never felt.

Oft memories, unforgotten,

time held thus.

A smile, a laugh, a tear...

many faces shown,

oft the many memories,

only one there.

This beautiful black woman,

with curled hair.

My greatest achievement is raising my daughter to become a positive person, and a testament to what loving parents can accomplish. She has owned her own Web Design business since 2007 and is very independent. Examples of her work can be seen at Ayana Mayes Web Design

"The Rebel" is now available atRitchie Mayes website

Below is an excerpt from my novel.

1929, when scorching-hot-burning, yellow suns, flame in insufferably long days, and blindingly-luminous-cooling moons wash the tortuous heat away, during shortened nights, not long enough to recover from the excessive cruelty, exacted by the solar inferno, that is mother nature’s privy, to dispense. A surreal reality exists; it is the imagined limitless excess, to a blinded few, but a very real struggle in an almost inescapable and oppressively-grinding poverty, for many.

An impenetrable divide exists between, the detached affluently aristocratic miscreants, and the invisible, faceless opposites. The later hold the former in utter contempt, pronouncing in defiance. “Equality, we demand equality,” is the mantra of the needy. But it only results in a turned, disdainful blind eye, to embrace more emphatically, their horrid opulence. Humanly unable to broach the divide, divine interference will blur, “yes” meld the two into one, and erase the distinctions between classes. The correcting convergence, occurs in October, on what will become the reviled, “Black Tuesday,” when the economy implodes, and ushers in equality between the haves and have not’s. The downtrodden needy, feels no compassion, for the former had, and of them that lost everything in the devastation, some chose death rather than life without.

My novel The Rebel can be found at Amazon.com

I would thoroughly enjoy, exchanging ideas with others, or conversing on, rhyme, meter imagery, allusion, oxymoron's, foot, time, and lines of any stanza in poetry. And ultimately, just enjoy a simple conversation. I have no ulterior motives, as to say, I am not here to pick up women, or participate in any cyber camining  of any sort. "For" those who may be here to engage in that kind of activity, please discount me as approachable. But I offer honest, intelligent discourse, and is willing to discuss issues ranging from politics and history to religious theory.

Paramount, I do not believe in the oxymoron internet dating. Introducing yourself to some here is possible, exchanging ideas, conversing is possible; but actual dating requires physical proximaty.

I hope that I have not offended anyone, but I must be honest and transparent about what I feel about internet communication. I do not object to internet communication, in fact, I whole hardly embrace the technology.

However, the words on a screen....cannot replace the warm touch of a caring heart.; but that's just me, and I know that my stay here, will be fruitful and enjoyable.

Thank you. Ritchie.

Failure of Government

President Obama has shown his naivety when it comes to banks and big business. We in the Black community continue to keep our heads buried in the sand, afraid to criticize Obama, because he is black. Well let me tell you. He is not a Black President, he is President of the United States of America, therefore-is a politician first.

The President's version of Regan's old trickle down theory is not working. Never have the affluent and banks come to the aid of the American people. History... (continue reading)

Shadowing.

Have you been asked to shadow? as part of a job interview. I experienced, what seems to be a new trend emerging in job interviewing. Shadowing is following a trainer around for an  entire non-paid work day, to as it is called "getting a feel" for the job. The person conducting the original interview does not participate in the process; therefore, must rely on the opinion of a trainer, who may not be qualified to give a true assessment of your... Poem, dedicated to the election of Obama as the first non European President;

Posted

This poem was written in the Old English style, using a foot consisting of six and seven syllable lines. A syllable is single vocalization of a word. A stressed syllable is the vowel sound that has a consonant before or after the vowel letter. In poetry it is often referred to as iambic pentameter, consisting of unrhymed lines. When reading the poem the imagery is obvious.

The title of the poem is

The Journey

Of distance lights, new lands they came.

The dark... (continue reading)
