Dimensions of kitchen countertops have such indicators as length, width (depth), height (thickness). The standard thickness, which is considered optimal in terms of strength of the countertop, is 38 mm. Of course, it is better to do it with a margin, at least 4 cm. The width depends on the material and can vary around 70-80 cm, depending on the functional requirements and, again, the material of manufacture.


Chipboard


Countertops made of plastic on the basis of chipboard cannot exceed 4 meters in length. This restriction is connected with production technology. Moreover, imported countertops have an overall size from 3.6 m to 4.2 m in length. DIY countertops, as a rule are three meter long. Countertops of artificial stone


Acrylic countertops are often called stone, but this is not true. The composition of these countertops is very different.


Advantages of countertops made of artificial stone are in their strength: the stone is scarcely scratched and does not deform from moisture and temperatures, while increasing joints on it are practically no noticeable, which makes it possible, for example, to make a solid surface countertop with a sink.


The standard size for the countertops of artificial stone in depth is up to 80 cm. The thickness depends mainly on the main headset and attachment, as well as individual needs of the kitchen set. Deviations from the standard (38 mm) in this case are almost the norm.


Remember! Peculiarity of this material is that it is difficult to adjust in terms of size, so if you want the depth or width of the countertop to be different, it is possible, but it will cost more than you see in the price for standard dimensions.


However, due to the fact that the surfaces of artificial stone are well joined, while the seams on them are practically invisible, you can order a countertop with length of even 4 meters.
