"The Games Afoot!"

Saw Someone

Posted

I spent the day listening to the birds sing, without nothing on, not needing any other sound. Just wanted to be quiet...for a minute.

He stopped by for just a minute, just to say hi, just to look at me and I at him.

Remembering when we loved and loved again.

Remembering when my heart smiled and my soul danced.

He touched me and my soul smiled but my heart frowned and the birds stopped singing and the quiet became too noisy and I had to play Jill Scott so I could stop hearing the beating of my heart.

but I can still hear it

and I can still smell him

and I am lost

The Four Agreements

Posted

I was going to start thing blog by complaining about a relationship gone sour, but it takes more energy to be negative and more effort to be positive during a time of pain. Therefore, I am going to focus on the positive and ways of continually improving myself.

One of the major changes in my life came when I read The Four Agreements. These simple four statements make our complicated lives so much simpler if we would only follow them.

  1. Be impeccable with your words: What does that mean? Watch what you say! Words can never be taken back. Words run deep and cut even deeper. Many of use remember things that our parent said to us as children. They may have called us names, told us we were worthless. For many, those words continually manifest themselves as we believe that we are worthless and that we are ugly.
  2. Don't take anything personally: His issues are not your issues. He had a bad day at work, he comes home, he is distant, it is not your fault. Do not take owness of others actions.
  3. Don't make assumptions: Find the courage to ask questions. Not sure about a particular issue? ASK! Don't sit there wondering and coming to your own conclusions. Oftentimes, you are wrong and have made a small incident, a large situation.
  4. Always do your best: No one can ask for more. If you know you have done your best, deep inside of yourself you will find self satisfaction.
