The stories describe legacies of dysfunction experienced by various people in their lives and how they manage to drag their baggage with them into current relationships. Most characters are narrowly wedged into tunnel vision, where options and choices seem limited, and settling in their circumstances becomes the only answer they can imagine. The setting of most of the stories take place within homes of seemingly regular people on the outside, yet turmoil and trauma exists behind the closed doors of their homes. These are stories about every day people, who are working out scenarios in their lives with what they bring to it, and what is presented to them.
Is it possible for us to stop the madness and turn this trend around? Can we stop being so mean and critical of each other and try and figure out what the root cause is for people accepting their lives this way? Can we try and encourage children to grow up with respect for themselves and love of life? |
