Thank you to the 1,300 plus members who provided feedback (a BP record!) on the new homepage. We appreciate the kind words and suggestions on how to make it better. Based on your feedback, we pushed two key updates live:

1. Friends Online - You can now see how many of your friends are online while on the homepage. 

2. Status Update Commenting - Since launching the new homepage, we've seen a 100% increase in the number status updates posted. These short messages are great way to start a conversation around specific topics. But those conversations are not always easy to have. Moving forward, simply click on the comment icon to post a message about a specific status update. And form friendships with new people.

3. NSFW Photos Section - A few months ago, we made improvements to our photo approval process so that every photo is screened for appropriateness. Now we are launching a new Photos section, NSFW (Not Safe for Work). NSFW includes photos that are not necessarily inappropriate but could be considered mature by the BP community. A few months back, we provided a sneak peek at the new BlackPlanet homepage and received some great feedback. And now it is ready to go live! Here are a few of the updates:

Activity Feed - The activity feed now includes updates from everyone on BlackPlanet, members in your city and from your friends. Get a pulse on what’s new and share your own updates with the community. You’ll soon be addicted! Just interested in your friends? The homepage will default to the last activity feed you looked at, so just click the friends tab.

Homepage cleanup - We’ve simplified the homepage so you can meet new people and navigate to other sections of the site. 

Updated privacy settings – If your profile is set to public, photo uploads and status updates will appear in the activity feed for everyone to see. But you can always update your preferences here http://www.blackplanet.com/fri end_center/settings.html.
