Site Maintenance Wednesday Dec. 1st

Attention BP members!

 

 

 We're planning site maintenance for Wednesday morning December 1st. Blackplanet will be experiencing downtime and the site will unavailable starting at 2am EST for about 5 hours.  Members will not be able to access the site until about 7am.

Many BlackPlanet members reported over this past weekend a high volume of spam notes.   The issue has now been resolved, all unwanted content deleted, and legitimate accounts unsuspended if they were suspended due to the spammer.  Therefore, BlackPlanet should be safe to use, and unwanted spam in large part eliminated.

Please also note that BlackPlanet is in the process of introducing stronger preventative measures, in order to avoid this kind of unwanted experience in the future.  As soon as later tonight, BlackPlanet will be introducing new safety / security measures, and we will communicate more detail when these features are launched.  We strongly believe that these new measures will result in a much improved overall BlackPlanet experience.

Our apologies for the inconvenience over this past weekend.  We are committed to making your experience on BlackPlanet a rewarding and secure one.

Members whose personal messages were affected we will be making a fix in the next 24-48 hours that should restore your personal message back to normal.  If possible please do not update the personal message for the next 24-48 hours.

Spam Attack

Hey Everyone,


Over the weekend we had an attack on our sites by spammers.  We went ahead, located the problem and made the necessary fix.  There is no need to change your account passwords since this was an attack on the personal page itself not the account.

Site Update: Faster Photo Approval

A few of the most popular requests by the BP community are to speed up the photo approval process and remove inappropriate content. You post a main profile photo and it could take up to 48 hours to approve. And when you browse photos across the site, you see things you wish you hadn’t.  

 

We hear you and made some updates to how photos are approved. Appropriate photos will be approved faster and those deemed inappropriate will be removed immediately. This is part of our efforts to improve your overall BP experience.
