$25,000 Development GRANT for Filmmakers! Final Deadline EXTENDED

Posted

Greetings Family,
(Contact Information At Bottom Of Page)

It's your friendly neighborhood "Digital Drummer" again

Are you a filmmaker or producer? Here is a great opportunity to raise development money, and receive industry recognition.

Los Angeles's FILM INDEPENDENT (FilmIndependent.org) has EXTENDED the final deadline for it's 2007 PRODUCERS LAB, as well as submissions for the 2007 SLOAN PRODUCER GRANT.

THE SLOAN PRODUCER GRANT carries with it a $25,000 development prize, admission to Film Independent's 2007 Producers Lab, and year-round support from Film Independent. To be eligible for the Sloan Grant, the applicant must be attached as producer to the script with which they are applying and the screenplay should have a scientific, mathematical, and/or technological theme and storyline or have a leading character who is a scientist, engineer, or mathematician. Documentaries are not eligible.

The deadline extension is NOT being made public. All submissions MUST include the words DEADLINE EXTENSION on the envelope and must be postmarked by Tuesday, September 4th. All Filmmakers can apply to the PRODUCER'S LAB whether or not they wish to be considered for the Sloan Grant.

The 2007 Producer's Lab Applications can be downloaded at:
http://www.filmindependent.org/pdf/producerslabapp7-07.pdf

The $25,000 grant is funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, which seeks to create and develop new scripts and films about science and technology and to see them into commercial production with national and international distribution. It has screenplay development programs with the Tribeca, Sundance, and Hamptons Film Festivals, as well as other select independent partners and film schools.

PLEASE READ AGAIN: To be considered for the Sloan Producers Grant, the applicant must apply to the 2007 Producers Lab and indicate in their letter that they wish to be considered for the Sloan Grant. To be eligible for the Sloan Grant the applicant must be attached as producer to the script with which they are applying and the screenplay should have a scientific, mathematical, and/or technological theme and storyline or have a leading character who is a scientist, engineer, or mathematician. Documentaries are not eligible for this grant. Screenplays that have previously been recognized by the Sloan Foundation are eligible for this grant.

Are You Black And Have A Wells Fargo Mortgage???

Posted

Good Morning Family,
(Contact Information At The Bottom Of The Page)

Do you have a mortgage with Wells Fargo or know someone that does? If so this is something you should take immediate action on.

Two black homeowners have initiated a class action lawsuit here in California against Well Fargo, America's second largest lender. (see http://today.reuters.com/news/articleinvesting.aspx?type=bondsNews&storyID=2007-07-31T193123Z_01_N31251892_RTRIDST_0_WELLSFARGO-DISCRIMINATION-LAWSUIT.XML)

It is a proven fact that (on average) Blacks are charged higher interest rates then whites across this country. With all the talk in the media about the collapse of the housing market because of sub-prime loans, many of us are looking for a place to turn...why not the courts.

In a 2006 study, the Center for Responsible Lending found that when creditworthiness and credit risk were equal, African-Americans were still 31 percent to 34 percent more likely to receive higher rate, more expensive sub-prime loans than Caucasians.

The National Community Reinvestment Coalition revealed that lenders on average made high-cost sub-prime loans to higher-qualified
African-Americans 54% of the time, compared to 23% of the time for Caucasians, even when the Caucasian applicants were less qualified.

These and other studies demonstrate that African-American homeowners are paying higher mortgage interest rates than their Caucasian counterparts.

The law firm of Lerach Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman & Robbins is looking for others who feel that they were charge excessively high interest rates and/or points by Wells Fargo and/or their subsidiaries. Is this you, or a member of your family?

Subject: [The_City_Lights_Reporter] Wells Fargo & Co.

Wells Fargo & Co.

A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the second largest US mortgage lender alleging racial discrimination towards clients. The lawsuit was filed in US District Court for the Northern District of California and claims San Francisco based Wells Fargo discriminates against black homeowners in how it sets rates and fees.

The complaint accuses Wells Fargo of marking up interest rates or adding fees for black borrowers seeking mortgages after agreeing to lend, based on criteria such as credit histories and home values. Homeowners claim such acts violated the federal Fair Housing Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act. The case seeks to make Wells Fargo halt any racially biased lending practices, improve employee training, reimburse unfair charges, and pay punitive damages.

Fresh Faces2u.com is a new online community empowerment platform designed to create new opportunities for struggling artisans, while simultaneously providing a philanthropic community service to the entertainment industry.

Last May we awarded $10,000 to Michelle Lyles, a 25 year old student at Cal State LA (see Blog). This is not just another banner exchange or online advertising program, but an opportunity to make a real difference in our community by supporting higher education, talent/career development, mentorship, and cultural awareness, among entertainment and modeling industry professionals.

Fresh Faces2u is a new international community empowerment platform designed to change the way the modeling game is played...breaking down traditional geographical, economic, and cultural barriers to entry for promising new talent. This is NOT a beauty contest, but a new way to raise money for community reinvestment.

The revenue generated from the voting process will be utilized to create an ongoing perpetual, self-funding charitable fund; that will be used to empower, educate, and encourage new artisans entering the entertainment industry. Our goal is to reinvest millions back into the community. Join us and help rebuild our communities through technology.

All you have to do is come to agreement with one of your model friends, and get their permission (in writing) to submit their pictures to www.freshfaces2u.com under your company name (Jane Smith, Sponsored by "XYZ Company").
