Sell-out to Satan? Let's Be Real!

Posted

On May 4, 2008, a fellow BP member left a comment, stating that I had sold my soul to the devil. Sadly, this was from an African woman who abandoned her true culture and heritage. Below is my response to her comment, followed by her original posting.

Posted 11-Nov-2008 by Awo Ojelola Ifasakin:

I am just now seeing the comment (noted below) you left on 04-May-2008, regarding a photo of mine from my ite'Fa in Nigeria. While I can appreciate your efforts in sharing what you believe to be righteous, I must declare that I am appalled by the idea that you, and many other indigenous Africans have so willingly thrown away your true heritage for a system of belief that has been twisted and manipulated to destroy people around the world.

My enslaved African ancestors were beaten, tortured, and even killed, for trying to hold on to their own culture. Christianity was literally beaten in to their skulls. Far beyond that, I witnessed, first-hand, how Christians continued to tear down my own family, throughout my childhood. I attended a Christian elementary school, and actively and willingly participated in the church, only to be rejected, tormented, and even beaten, BY CHRISTIANS, both White and Black, because of my ethnicity and skin tone. Through all of this, I prayed to God and to Jesus. I prayed to be saved from the horrors that my ancestors experienced, and the terrible things that I continued to experience in my own life, at the hands of Christians.

While Jesus, himself, preached nothing wrong, an overwhelming number of Christians have twisted Christianity in to an abomination that is used to destroy cultures and control people. They have used, and continue to use, Christianity as a means of destroying the moral fiber upon which cultures have been successfully thriving for hundreds of millenniums. Christianity is used as the excuse for genocide and mass destruction. Even the unjust war in Iraq and Afghanistan is an effort based on twisted Christian practices and greed. In this nation, today, Muslims are attacked by Christians, just because they are Muslim. President Bush is largely responsible for this, as he claimed that God told him to go to war against the "Muslim terrorists". He used his Christian faith as the excuse to bring war to the Middle East, killing entire communities of people.

Did you know that some Christians have already threatened the life of our new President-elect, Barack Obama? Yet, Barack Obama, himself, is a Christian. It reminds me of the many times when I was threatened and attacked by Christians, when I was a Christian, myself. Do you realize that the enslavement of Africans in America was a business run by Christians? Did you know that European and American Christians controlled the slave trade in Africa? Did you know they used Christianity to divide the peoples of Africa, and then conquer them?

You say your family was involved in traditional African spiritual practices for over 500 years. Now, you are just "breaking free" from it. I wonder, if it was such a curse that would have doomed your family, how did they survive in it for more than half a millennium? Now, you throw away your true heritage, for something that is foreign to you. To put it in to the very words you used, "It is dangerous to embrace a culture you did not grow up in."

Today, the Christian tactics may not be so blatantly brutal as they were a century ago, or even 30 or 40 years ago. But, the goal is still the same. It is to tear apart cultures, brainwashing entire ethnic groups, assimilating them in to a system of belief that is not their own, dividing and conquering them, controlling them, under the guise of peace and love. It is nothing other than treachery and manipulation, based on greed and justified through twisted Christian values. Jesus, himself, would be disgusted by it all.

As I said before, I prayed to God and to Jesus, to save me from the torment that I experienced as a Christian. God led me to Ifa. Since finding my way to Ifa, I have inner strength and peace that no one can take away.

Ire aiku, ire owo, ire alafia.

Dear brother, I am an African and I'd just like to let you know that you have basically sold your soul to the devil and they will be claiming you or your children in the future. You can only get out of it by seeking Christ. It is dangerous to embrace a culture you did not grow up in. The reason there is such a strong Christian movement in Nigeria and other parts of Africa is because of the deep rituals and occultic practices we were dipped into and are now fighting to get away from. My family has been under such practices for over 500 years and I am just now breaking away from it and ensuring that the curse does not follow my childrem It saddens me to see that you are running towards that. Your life may seem charmed for a while but when it comes time to cash in, they are gonna do it big time and wipe out all who are closest and dearest to you. Ask any Christian Nigerian about the rituals you went through and they'll tell you the truth. Be careful and seek Jesus as your Lord and saviour. The Lord directed me to write to you so please don't hate the messenger. You are duly warned and the rest is your choice.

More than a Place for Rent, It's Shared Home Living

Posted

Most people want to live in a nice house, in a peaceful neighborhood, with good schools for the children. Then, they must meet the challenge of keeping food on the table and paying child care expenses. These days, that is difficult enough for a married couple. It is even a more difficult task for a single parent. Regardless of whether you are single or married, it's not easy.

Now, suppose your landlord would provide free food for your family and free day care for your children. Wouldn't that make your life easier? Doesn't that sound too good to be true? Well, your landlord isn't going to do that for you, but, participating in the Shared Home Living program, with Osebiile Lejuba Ifa, will provide food for your family, day care for your children, and a house you can call home, that you share as a family with other good folks like yourself.

Here is how it works:
You live in a nicely furnished home on a peaceful block. You share a room with another adult of the same gender, or, you share a room with your spouse. Children share a room with other children, with girls and boys having separate rooms. You pay a monthly membership fee. (We don't call it rent, because you get far more than rent can buy.) Osebiile Lejuba Ifa provides spiritual leadership and counseling, as well as food and child care service.

What about single adults, or couples, with no children?
Singles or couples with no children are definitely welcome. Everyone in the Shared Home Living environment benefits from the support of the family.

How much does this cost?
Generally, you would probably pay less than the cost of renting a nice apartment or private home. Still, you get the added benefits of a family support system, kitchen stocked with food, child care, spiritual counseling, and more.

For a clearer picture of the cost, here is an estimate of the Shared Home Living fees. Please note that, unless otherwise specified, rates are per adult, with two adults in a room. Children share a room with other children.

Single Adult
no children.....$420
1 child............$580
2 children.......$630
3 children.......$680

Married Couple (rates per couple, not per person)
no children.....$840
1 child............$880
2 children.......$930
3 children.......$980

To move in, the first month's membership must be paid, along with a deposit of $100.

What's the catch?
All of our members must learn to live and cooperate together, as a family. Everyone lends a helping hand. Everyone participates in the cleaning and upkeep of the home.

Our organization maintains homes in a clean, green, and healthy environment. So, this is not for smokers or pet owners.

We uphold the 16 laws of Ifa. So, all of our members live decently and righteously.

How can you become a member and participate in this Shared Home Living program?

Sisters and Brothers in Need: Help is Here!

WANTED: Women and Men who want a better life, and are willing to work for it!

Perhaps you're a struggling single mom, doing your best to take care of your children and make ends meet. Maybe you have no children, but you have dealt with hardships and failed relationships, and you don't feel there is anybody you can depend on to give you the caring support you need from time to time. Perhaps you are a man who has become educated, but you haven't been able to get that good job that will afford you the ability to build and support a family. Maybe you're struggling and can't even afford the education that would lead to a good job. Maybe you have children to support, but the economic environment has you wondering whether you will ever be a good provider. Whatever the case may be, you're a decent human being who wants to work for his/her achievements, and wants to have a support system to lean on when things get difficult. (Who doesn't?)

Osebiile Temple, is here to help. The organization is now forming a shared housing program, in the Atlanta, GA area.

What is "shared housing"?
Osebiile Ljuba Ifa will lease large homes. A home will be designated for a group of women (with or without children) or men. Everybody living in the home must work and contribute to the maintenance of the home. Everyone cooperates as family. Osebiile Lejuba Ifa provides assistance in finding and securing education and training programs, financial management of the home, assistance with banking, savings, and credit issues, child care and early childhood issues. Furthermore, Osebiile Temple teaches life values, based on ancient African tradition that sets people in harmony with their own soul, with one another, and with the Earth. It is by these essential life values that each home is operated. It is by these values that everyone functions as a cohesive family and community.

How do I get in to one of these programs?

Tune in to BlogTalkRadio and call in to participate, as the Queen of Diamonds has a discussion about Ifa, the indigenous faith of our West Afrikan ancestors, with Awo Ojelola Ifasakin, founder and presiding awo of Osebiile 'Lejuba Ifa (Temple of Ifa). Discover the key to balance in spiritual and physical life.

"Queen of Diamonds", Mercedes Hawkins, hosts Scattered Sheep on BlogTalkRadio, Thursdays at 5:00pm. She is a healer, health adviser, herbalist, and author.

Awo Ojelola Ifasakin established Osebiile 'Lejuba Ifa, first as a web site in 2002, then as a temple in 2004. The temple came in to being as the need for services became increasingly evident, by the growing number of requests for spiritual assistance in Ifa tradition.

Osebiile 'Lejuba Ifa is a center for healing, growing, and learning, in the Yoruba tradition of Ifa. Based in the metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Osebiile offers spiritual counseling (Ifa divination, ebo, general consultation), sacred ceremonial services (naming, hand of Ifa, marriage, cleansing, et cetera...), blessing of home, educational lectures, and Ifa/Orisa supplies, cleansing materials, and more.

The methods and teachings, at Osebiile, are based upon authentic Yoruba tradition of Ifa, as it is maintained in West Afrika. Honor and thanks are given to Olorun (God), owner of all that exists. Respect and veneration are extended to his agents, the Orisa, who help us. We ackowledge and appreciate the other powers he has put in place to maintain balance in the world. We love and honor our ancestors, whom, through the grace of Olorun, have built the foundation upon which we stand today.

Location: Osebiile Home of Ifa
City State Zip: Dacula, Gwinnett County, GA 30019-7016

The monthly gathering of Osebiile Temple is conducted on
the third Sunday of each month, at 2:00pm.

This meeting will be conducted at the home of Baba Ojelola Ifasakin, in Dacula, GA. Please call or email for the address. As usual, all members are asked to bring some food and/or beverage to share in this gathering.

Each meeting begins with a brief prayer of thanks, and pouring libation to the earth and our ancestors. We share stories and experiences, and we eat together. We also discuss some ideas to help our Ifa community.

During each of our gatherings, we have a special Odu session, in which we select ese Ifa (Odu verses) to teach our children and ourselves. There are many stories in Odu Ifa, which most people will find interesting and even fun. Let's give our children something more culturally meaningful to grow on, than "The Gingerbread Man".

For all members, we will have a discussion about the origins of our spiritual/cultural practices and traditions, and how we can incorporate these traditions in to "American" living. This is an on-going discussion, over several future gatherings.

If you are not a member, and would like to attend Osebiile Temple, please send email (oje_ifasakin@osebiile.org or oje_ifasakin@yahoo.com) for an invitation and directions. We are located in the small city of Dacula, in the East end of Gwinnett County, off Highway 316.
