Helping Others

Posted

Helping people is always interesting especially when they say they don't want any help but deep down they do. Today I helped a friend realize something he was afraid of wasn't as bad as he thought. Ironically though he did not want me to help him outwardly but I disregarded that notion because I know how it feels to want to achieve something inside but outwardly we show disinterest in whatever the item maybe. I was fortunate enough to have a friend who helped me changed a big part of my life but I outwardly wanted to change it. So this makes me think of two things: 1) Helping someone grow in a part of their life gives a much bigger payback than what most people would think. People tend to drag people down as opposed to lift them up. If you can find people who bring you up then you definitely want to hang onto those people. 2) People tend to look down on having to get help from people. They like to think "I can do it all by myself, and if I were to accept help from people then I must be weak" Obviously with such a mindset you limit yourself exponentially to how much you can grow because there is only so much you can accomplish in a lifetime by yourself. Accepting help from people at the right times is usually the solution for a lot of sticking points in our lives. So be the kind of person who help brings people up and don't be afraid to ask for help from people.

The Right Decision

Posted

So I'm starting to notice that sometimes I get fixated on making the right decision which sometimes leads to not making a decision at all. Why is that? Well I think people want to be right 100% of the time, nobody wants to make a mistake. But are mistakes really that bad? I don't think so as long as you learn a lesson from the event. I heard someone once say that the lesson you learn from an experience is always a bargain compared to the experience itself. I have to agree with that statement entirely. So if you look at decision making in that element then you realize that either choice is the "right" choice and you can eliminate the notions of mistakes entirely because you win either way.
