Do You Know How Strong You REALLY Are?

Posted

I was going through a little something a couple of weeks ago and Bev and Glenda were worried about me so I put them on a conference call to tell them what was going on and to reassure them that I was doing good.  During the call we talked about several things including the support we have for one another and our strengths.

During the conversation we talked about what was going on with each of us and I made mention that "Glenda is worse off than I am".  Today I received a text  from Glenda reminding me of why I said that.....

I'm sure to everyone on the outside looking in that statement seemed, for a lack of better words, a little Effed UP!!!  When I think about it....our conversation was cut short before I could finish my statement...so to Bev and Glenda that statement might seem a little "EFFED UP!!!"  I can imagine Glenda thinking (cause she didn't say it)

WHAT THE F__k!!! DUDE

Let me explain.....(smile)

Times are really rough for a few of us right now.  We are bearing a few crosses.  My girl Glenda not only left her (to some) comfy, cushiony job, she left her entire comfort zone and moved.  But wait, she didn't just move, she left the STATE.  She moved to an entirely different state without her family, and entirely on faith, some would say "blind faith".  At the moment of my statement, after slinging some MAJOR snot and having my speech distorted by sobs, my attempt was to take the focus off of my problem which wasn't bad at all.....

****side bar**** It's something like that "pitty party" thing Beverly (tee hee)Forget "Dont Be Tardy For The Party"...I was trying to change the venue....LOL.  ****back to the subject****

.....So any way....since football season has started....

After her move Glenda was tackled and knocked down a few times, but she was able to recover.  She had a few lineMEN block a few of her hits.  The BIG Quarterback called the plays and.....  TOUCH DOWN!!!!... she and her daughter moved into their own place.  Ok...she's running with the ball again.  Like Barry Sanders (oh yeah...that's when the Detroit Lions were in there....LOL) she's running and dodging hits and then.....BAM!!  she's hit...HARD..  She received a call from a lineMAN, that was on reserve (ha ha ha), that helped her on her feet and told her...get a spa treatment while you're at it to releave the soreness of all those hits.  Now THAT'S a true frIend (lineman) right there....Wow!!!

This morning I got a text message from Glenda telling me that she's heading to Lowes tonite to get her work schedule..... and another.......

TOUCH DOWN!!!!!

Okay.....  now...what I was trying to say when I said, "Glenda is worse off than I am" is....she left her cushiony job in corporate America, she moved across state lines, leaving her family and friends (comfort zone and support), she was knocked down a few times, but, (sometimes with the help of friends), got back up, she was able to secure a home and employment, and she's moving forward to all the she aspires to achieve and CONQUER.

When opsticals are put before us, some of us have FAR more strength than we imagine.  Even when we feel we are defeated, our linemen are there to support us, lift us up, and help us carry that ball to the end zone.  You've brought me to tears with your strength Glenda.  DARN!!!!

Anyhooo...I'm sure many of us have crosses to bear right now.  Just stop for a minute and analyze your situations.  You're stronger than you imagine and if you have supportive friends and family, your even MORE stronger.

TOUCH DOWN!!!!!!

Time for a little relaxation...before you continue on your journey.

The Colors of Autumn

Posted

I was sitting in my car in my neighborhood waiting for the light to change from red to green. Every year at this time when the trees are changing colors getting ready to slumber for the year I like to sit and watch, in awe, the "miracle" of nature.  As I sat there looking at the trees, they seem to come to life, swaying in the breeze, going through their metamorphosis and preparing "for a long winter's night".

If you're in an area that has four seasons take advantage of autumn. Pencil in a few minutes out of a day to just sit and look at the trees. The colors are beautiful right now; orange, gold, yellow, red, dark pink....it's beautiful and so relaxing. Appreciate the beauty that only God can produce. Take in the beauty and how awesome the trees are. I watch them stand tall and magnificent swaying in the breeze and realize their strength.

As the non-bending, strong, and magnificent trees sway and beg for attention in front of my eyes a song I sang in grade school glee club comes to mind.....

 I think that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree

A tree that looks at God all day,

And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear

A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;

Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree.
