TAKING A RUN AT DC COMICS!Posted
This is one of those latter moments. :) BLOODY PULP, by Jeff McComsey & Yours Truly, is being featured this month in DC Comics' ZUDA competition. In a nutshell... BLOODY PULP is the story of John “Pulp” Polpowski, a nightmare for hire who leads a dangerous double life-- secretly moving the men and women he’s been paid to kill to a remote safe house far from the syndicate controlled streets of 1930’s Kansas City. Each new resident brought to the house is expected to pull their weight and earn their keep, working side by side with people who know nothing of their past, nothing of who they were in the “real world”. For some residents the ramshackle house is a prison, for others a final chance at redemption. This is the house that Pulp built and the house rules are simple: NO ONE LEAVES. Ever. But nothing is simple about the arrival of Eustace Parks; a Negro band leader entangled in mob debt. His presence will cause lines to be drawn, passions to ignite and bloody, bloody acts to be carried out, leading to an epic standoff that will measure just how far Pulp is willing to go to bring order to his house. Go read it. Go love it. Go VOTE for it! Then come back here or check us out on TwoFistedPress.com. We'll be sharing some more stuff later today. Pulpy. Stuff.
Got some grief from BP pals who said I told them about the Anime Boston con a little too late so... looking ahead to September. :) Pittsburgh people, I'll be at the Pittsburgh Comic Con @ the brand new Monroeville Convention Center from Sept 11-13th. Then from Sept 25-27th,you'll find me signing/pushing books at the New York Anime Festival (Jacob Javits Center). I'll be at both cons with stacks of books, "Buffalo Soldier" tshirts and art superstars, Jeff McComsey (9 Months, American Terror) and Dominic Vivona (Gunplay). Thirty-FourPosted
Woke up this morning and discovered I was 34. No mid-life crisis hovering at my bedside, just my rest-of-life partner still asleep in my bed. Kissed my infant boy in his bassinet, adjusted the sheets on my two sleeping girls and made some coffee in my kitchen, in my house, while quietly considering our future. Woke up this morning and found myself exactly where I need to be. Where I want to be. READ THIS NOW: "BAYOU"Posted
Comic fan or not, you need to read BAYOU. Written and drawn by Jeremy Love, the comic just set a new record and won 5 Glyph Awards (think IMAGE Awards for comics). This is the kind of story you just don't run into all that often in mainstream media-- and it's comics giant, DC Comics, standing behind this one. Nice. Best part? It's completely FREE. "South of the Mason-Dixon Line, lies a strange land of gods and monsters. Born from centuries of slavery, civil war, innocent bloodshed, hate and strife lurks a world parallel to our own. LEE WAGSTAFF is the daughter of a poor, sharecropper in a depression-era, Mississippi Delta town, called Charon. She’s an introspective, brave child and hard labor in the fields has made her sturdy and strong. One day... (read more here)" |
