Hello everyone,

My name is Oz Wilson and I'm a science fiction author living in Michigan. I've just released a new sci-fi book called "THE SHADOW WALKER CHRONICLES." (FOR MATURE READERS ONLY!) No this is not a sales pitch although it is available on Amazon.com (lol). But seriously, are we as a race ever going to encourage our future inheritors to dream beyond being rap stars or athletes?

I don't want anyone to interpret this blog as "hater-aid" but there are alternatives to these career paths. I myself had to deal with a father who loved me but was often disappointed that I didn't chose a football career due to my size. Unfortuanately he didn't live to see my latest and greatest achievement the release of my first book. I also have a "story by" credit for a film in post-production called "THE FURY." It's story about a haunted house told from an urban perspective. My genres are Sci-fi,Horror and Fantasy.

Once again I do love the true urban poets of the past like Public Enemy and N.W.A. Tupac and Biggie should be added to that list as well. Also athletes that encourage intelligence as well as physical prowess should be respected too.

However we as a race have so much more to offer the world as doctors, lawyers, and yes here's the scary one! scientists! We must always remind our youth that for every minorly successful athlete and rapstar there are thousands that fail. But if you complete college and persevere, you almost gurantee yourself some sort of legitimate career. So that you can become a good role model for your children.

George Lucas isn't the only one that dares to create worlds of Fantasy. It's time for us to be represented in that arena with the same level of dignity that his creations have and not just as "Token" representations.
