SeamlessWeb.comPosted Seamless Web is a phenomenal service. They automatically let you find whatever restaurants will deliver to your area. Then they let you order directly off an interactive menu (with room to make personal edits) and let you pay it all using a CC. Plus they have ratings on the restaurants (although not on the dishes). Definitely recommend if it's in your area. New Type of Sports GMPosted Coming from New York, home of the New York Knickerbockers and their much detested owner and GM, I was particularly interested in the emergence http://www.myfootballclub.co.uk/ as an online social community that allows its members to own and control their own real live soccer club, Ebbsfleet United. This will certainly test whether a pure democracy (all 50,000 members votes count equally) of loyal fans can be more effective than the monarchy model of modern sports ownership. Joshua Fischer Google Gadget AdsPosted Gadgets and Widgets are new online tools that let customers get the information they want exactly when and how they want it. And today Google announced that it would allow companies to use their own Gadgets as advertisements within their network for the same price as traditional ads. The primary purpose is to allow customers to interact with (or even download) the information in that ad in a way not possible before. Users won't have to click through, but can eventually perform tasks such as: ordering products, watching live video or playing games directly from the page they're on. But I'm hardly an expert on the full capabilities of Gadgets, any other great ideas out there? DadLabsPosted In addition to highlighting the dubious talents and hilarious misfortunes of the population at large, online video is becoming a channel for thoughtful UGC that provides users real value not available on more mainstream channels. A terrific example is DadLabs.com, a website created by four teachers from Texas. They developed hundreds of entertaining short videos concerning parenting issues that may not have been addressed before - and do it from a male perspective. This has been a perfect fit for the internet platform since both the short issue-specific format (readily search-able) and audience (new fathers) are less suited for television. And indeed DadLabs has proven successful, as in under a year they are already count Wal-Mart, Hertz and CapOne among their sponsors. Jason RayPosted ESPN offers this story about the life and death of UNC mascot Jason Ray. It was a well-suited choice for ESPN to allow users to further interact with the participants of the story and each other. This experience helps promote a surprisingly difficult cause in a far more compelling way than any single article or statistic could. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=rayofhope#pageTop |
