From the National Democratic Convention Part 2

Posted

This morning at the NJ delegation breakfast meeting the state delegates agreed to dispense with the roll call tonight and present a unified state delegation for Barack Obama.

This was on the heels of the speech made by Hilary Clinton at last night's convention. She made a passionate appeal to her supporters to rally behind Obama calling him her candidate for President.

She left no doubt she is going to work hard for a victory for Obama.

Democrats are excited about the future with Barack Obama as President.

The alternative is four more years of Bush like policies or four more months. The crowd chose four months.

A labor union leader that spoke this morning talked about the living conditions of the people he leads. Foreclosures, the price of food and gas, healthcare, safe working conditions etc. He spoke of these things in the context of why some of his union members were not going to vote for Obama now that Sen. Clinton was out of the race. He said some were voting for McCain because Obama was black. His answer to his constituents was a very colorful description of cow manure.

Would you let the ethnicity or gender of an individual stop you from voting for them as president.

From the National Democratic Party Convention Part 1

The anticipation is palpable as people from all over the country arrive in Denver. You can feel the excitement. Historic is a word I keep hearing. In Philadelphia and in Denver the feeling of an unprecedented time in America's history is in most people's minds. It is kind of retro to see people here with Hilary buttons and signs. Like they have not caught up yet. The nation is moving on.

There is also a curiosity as to how people can fit into this new political paradigm. New context seems to imply new opportunity.

There is a sense of hope, real hope. What do you sense? Are we headed in the right electoral direction?
