Stand and Run

Posted

Stand on this mountain with me
And, look out upon the sea of hope
What is it here that allows dreams to be?
Raspy voices out in the then muffled and chocked
Stand on the hills and lets consider
Who holds the key to our wants
Counting by 3's and calculating our Enigma
Just listening to the voices and take comfort in the flaunts

No! Don't sit down
They've spotted us and We Must Run Now!

(Then I yell)

Runnnnn!
They approach by the millions!
Runnnnn!
Make this test our heaven
Runnnnn!
Voices nearing. Do you not hear the villains?!
Runnnnn!
Ignore the cuts the blood will dry as we reach pavilion!
Runnnnn!
Grab my hand and let this be a lesson...

(Then I whisper)

Stand in this garden with me and catch your breath
We've surpassed their reach
Knowing more, now , is worth more than knowing less
Follow me once more I do beseech
Sit, with me, in the house of content
Your bruises will heal in due time
Come, lets sit here and lament
We are Kings and Queens in our prime

(Then I proclaim)

I don't know when
I don't know how
Cleaning ourselves of past sins
Guess what?
It's ok to Stop running now...
Stand up and look around
It's ok to stop running now...
Wipe sweat from brow
It's ok to
Stop-
Running-
Now...

(Then we digress)

For some reason I feel like on top that mountain signifies the pure individual, the voices signify the conscious thought, the minds flight in doing wrong doing right, dreaming and non dreaming. The voices are hard to relate to when in a rush but alone atop that mountain things become clear one moment we stand one moment we run, running from fear, happiness, and doubts. intriguing write my friend just thought provoking.

I love reading your poetry and I also love the poetic comments they inspire. This poem reminds me of one's self acknowledgement when we take the so call step back to look at oneself and the world around us in order to find meaning.
