ITS TIME TO GROW UP BLACK MEN AND WOMEN!!!

Posted

Its time to grow up and let it go Brothas and Sistas. For starters men if you are over 25 and wearing throw back jerseys and sagging jeans let that go. I think that it is important for a boy to look like a boy and its equally important for a man to look like a man.

Everyone one grows older though that doesn't mean that they mature and to be an immature black man in the world is truly like stepping up to the plate with two strikes and no balls against you. Men have to look like men and not like teeny boppers and worst still convicted felons. Growing up doesn't have to mean growing old in your concepts but it should mean that you see the world with a maturity that is greater than that of a teen ager.

Just try it go out and get yourself a nice suit. Scratch that!! Go out and get yourself a nice business suit. Basic black. None of these stupid %#&@$! "Pimp" suits. After you get your suit walk around and see if you don't notice a difference in the way you are percieved in the general public. After that see if you don't feel differently and think differently. Hell even your posture might change.

Now I am attacking the most superficial of things because we as men are stuck in a superficial state. We walk around "thinking" we are the same we were when we were 15-18 and we are not. Meanwhile our women grow up and grow past us. Where does that leave black women? Where does that leave black men?

We are too vital and too needed to play ourselves out of the game!!! We are too smart and too strong for that. So please let's grow up together and grow into being the men God intended for us to be. Let us be the leaders of our communities, our churches, our schools and most importantly our homes.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Truer words were never spoken. In the history of the world "Boy Kings" never really fared well (though there were exceptions). The throne of the KING IS FOR MEN ONLY!! Rise black man lead your personal kingdom!! Trust me your community is waiting for you!

Sista PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop trying to compete with young silly girls. One of the blessings of being a woman is wisdom but if you turn your back on Gods greatest gift to you then you are truly cursing yourself.

You are not men nor can you or should you try to sexualize yourself as such. Sex and the City, Girlfriends and any thing from Terry Mcmillian is all fiction. In real life men aren't like that ! It just doesn't happen like that.

Yet I still see women everyday flashing more skin than a party at the playboy mansion. Look ladies I am not a prude believe me. I LOVE half naked women. But when a women goes around showing her %#&@$! all the time she puts men in a certain mindset and I can promise you that mindset isn't marriage!!

Believe it or not men like a challange and they don't want a woman on their arm who has slept with every other guy they encounter. Men....YES BLACK MEN want a woman they can put on a pedistal and say "That's my QUEEN" to everyone not "That's my Ho, or Baby Momma or whatever else is being said!!

Black women despite popular opinion there is more to you than your %#&@$!!! There is more to you than your remarkable figure and godlike prowess in the bed room!! No other race of women and I mean NO OTHER RACE OF WOMEN can walk into a room and command the awe inspiring respect black women can!!! Without even trying you have this power. Your look and walk is taught all over the world as grace and modeling.

So please remeber that the next time you "Go to the club" with a tight dress that leaves nothing to the imagination or wear shorts that have half your %#&@$! hanging out that you don't have to try that hard!!! You had us at hello!!! We are already looking at you with the possibility of something bigger and being nude destroys all that and puts us in another place.

That can't be all that you are about is it? NO so GROW UP and lets move forward together.

What you've said is so true!!!! I hope and pray that more men and women would read this and stop selling themselves short. Placing foolishness like you've stated behind us and growing up is the first huge step to maturity. The second step is maturing their minds for more productive goals throughout their lives. I simply love what you've written because more people need to read it. I'm surprised people haven't commented on this because they definately need to read it. Maybe alot of people simply don't want to face the truth?

Please continue doing what you're doing and much success to you!

Wow!! Thanks much for that you repsonse to my blog touched me profoundly. One of the things I try and do with my music is "move forward" and in doing so I find that I am in very exclusive company.

I run into men that are still "playing the game" and I run into women that try to "dumb" themselves down to a teenage girl level. I want to with my music and my lyrics to examine our sexuality as it grows and matures and goes from adolesent sexual exploits to full grown adult passions and romance and ultimately real and true love!!

But I don't just examine that. I look at the "Souls of Black Folks" and I try to address some of the issues that hold us (you, me , our entire race) back from the promises of the glory God has in store for us!

Thank you so much for touching me with your response to my blog. I can't thank you enough.
