A native of Boston's South End, Papes grew up in the same close knit urban locales that produced such superstar acts as New Edition, Guru, Made Men, and Ed O.G. and the Bull Dogs. Rap has reached unprecedented heights since it's inception in the mid-seventies. Papes began testing the musical waters at an early age. While other aspiring signed and unsigned artists chose to sample and regurgitate oldies music, Papes set his sites on composing and performing original music over unique urban influenced rhythms and jazz infused beats. Papes M.O. from day one has been: Don't Spit it Unless You Lived It. Papes first commercial appearance was a featured performance on the compilation album, "1,000 Degrees and Rising". Then a member of the 18/50 rap group, fans will remember their hits "Hustlers Hustle" and "Inner City Wars". Their sophomore album, "The Sage Continues" offered gritty anthems like "The Grain" and "From the Streets to the Rap Game". In 2006, Papes is embarked on his solo career. The much anticipated album "Dirty Myrtle" features collaborations with an array of talented performers including: Sunn, Larry Sideburns, and soulful crooner, Mr. July. Recognizing the lack of East Coast, namely Boston, artists being signed to the majors, Papes is here to put Bean Town on the map once and for all. This ain't your mama's music...but collabos with Mr. July will have you nodding your head and thinking back-in-the day thoughts.
