sadly, who can spread this message better than Oprah? too bad she it too busy giving the audience cars they couldn't even take because they couldn't pay the taxes on them. sad. our 'elites' simply need to do a better job. She probably wont do it because whites- and black americans- are too comfortable with the fact that everything black must be bad. You have to ask yourself as well, are YOU comfortable with thinking that as well?

this needs to be on blackplanet's front page. let these negroes learn, old and young alike. there is hope. the grass is greener on the other side of your dismal thinking.

and thats real.

I want to throw it at you like this.
How many blackmen been to Jail/Prison? vs
How many blackmen been to College/Universities?
Ages 21 and Older---

The reason for the perception is that you can ask 10 blackmen this question and 7 out of 10 would say Jail---
Providing they are telling the truth when they answer.

The Networking/Apprentiship of our gifted is not applied as vigorously as it can be---

The ability to be sidetracked from the persuit of higher learning was/is a big hurdle that must be made easier.

In conclusion, I can believe their is more Blackmen in College than in jail at any one given time.

This question is bigger than it appears.

If more energy is placed on the positive effort of the black race than the negative sides, we are sure to grow up with the right frame of mind of whom and what we represent and how we think of ourselves a people. Thanks for clearing such negative impression with real facts and data it’s a positive way of renewing our minds and mentality.

I AM SO GLAD THAT YOU CLEARED THAT UP! THAT IS JUST A PART OF SLAVE MENTALITY, THIS IS WHAT WE ARE BEING TAUGHT: TO BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE MORE BLACK MEN IN JAIL THAN IN COLLEGE. IT PROBALY WAS NEVER TRUE FROM THE START BUT AS OUR PEOPLE BEGAN TO BELIEVE SUCH STEREOTYPES THEY STARTED PREPARING THEMSELVES FOR JAIL INSTEAD OF COLLEGE OR SUCCESS. IT IS A KNOWN FACT THAT PERCEPTION PRECEEDS REALITY. SO THE MORE WE BELIEVE THAT THINGS ARE TRUE THE MORE LIKELY THAT WE END UP A PRODUCT OF OUR ENVIRONMENT. THIS SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT IS NATIONALLY TELEVISED ON COMMERCIALS SO THAT PEPLE WILL BEGIN TO CHANGE THE WAY THEY THINK AND REACT TO CERTAIN THINGS.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME AWARE BECAUSE I ALSO WAS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE BELIEVING IN THAT STEREOTYPE. IT IS TAUGHT IN SCHOOL SYSTEMS... AND SHOULD BE BANNED FROM THINKING SUCH THINGS ABOUT ANY RACE ESPECIALLY OURS!!!! WAKE UP BLACK PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First I want to thank you for this video. After reviewing it, I am still going with my first impulse and say "in jail." I am a survivor of many institutional jails because I have always maintained my blackness, my determination for a good education, and my "stand up and be counted out front" generation. And I also worked in the most powerful section of the Army at one time: Military Intel. I have my degree in International Business relations only to be stopped many times from achieving more. You got your numbers from the Bureau of Prisons, who are making the largest amount of profit for incarcation in the WORLD. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to diminsh numbers enough to pacify large numbers of people who are totally absorbed by mass media communications. How do you keep people in check? You introduce them to be fearful and paranoid. How do you keep people ignorant? You give them everything they need, show them how to use it, where eventually, they will take it for granted (such as a book, libraries, television). How do you keep large numbers of people from panicking and stirring up agaitation? You commit the wrongful acts FIRST, then slowly feed out information to them, where the information will be taken for granted. ..........l

Let us try the tallies of how many black men between 15-74
have been in jail or in school? If we are not taught where WE came from, BOTH remain institutional prisons.........

That is what's up! I knew that most people would think that there is more people in jail then i college. But black men are overcoming the stat's of society- and becoming educated black men. That is the way it s suppost to be!

That is some great information to think about. We as a black community have to sit down together and talk about how are we going to keep that number of our black young boys going into college. That number of 801, 000 in jail that is an amazing figure, so much so that it's almost 1 million back men in the prison system that can make up an entire city, country etc. Just thnik of the possibilities of thos men who I know have some type of education or talent that can be in this world procreating keeping our community strong. I give my props to the black men who are the exception to that statistic. Lets keep it going in the positive manor it should be and try and keep that number of 801,000 down. Let's teach our kids and nurture our kids like they suppose to be, they are the future and right now the future is us. Look at what's happening in the world today, a black president. let's pray that this will be a turning leaf in our society. Education is key and knowledge is pure power. I know it's tough raising boys inot me in a single family household, however we have to stick with it and never stray away from it. I thank my grandparents for raising me right in order for me to raise mine right. Thank you for this eye opening information that a lot of us need now.

Thanks for sharing this knowledge with me, if you would have asked me the same question before seeing this I would have said in prison also, due 2 the nature of society these days, compared 2 the 1960's,70's,and 80's more and more black men fall into this trap due to us not teaching our next generations morals and standards that was taught in those days. Now some young black men veiw going 2 prison as a badge of honor, versus SHAME , drugs is now becoming the #1 reason 4 black men being locked up. Along with SOME rap music, and artist who dont understand the negative effect that they have on our race. I find it hard to explain 2 my 12 year old daughter what a sexual seduction is about, though i have talk 2 her about sex along with her mother, the radio plays this song all day everyday. Then you have rappers bragging about how much money they made doing illegal things, and how they was in prison and they make it sound so easy that young black males are now asking themselves why should i finish school and get a good education 2 get a good job, when they can do what they heard a rapper who has millions did, but they never take into consideration that everybody dont get away with it and often find themselves in jail. But again thanks 4 the knowledge.

Sup everyone well this bratha is not surprised white folks have been lien on us sense the beginning of time. But it makes a bratha feel good to see someone telling the truth bout black people doing something positive 4 a change. If we want to see a change in our black people for a bright future lets start sticking together like the old folks did before drugs and everythang else came into our community. Let Education repect and love be the key for a brighter future. Lets tell the stories of our history not there history. For God has giving us soul in our walk, talk, song, and mine that no one else has lets keep it real,Even though it seem like there r a lot of people black people not being proud of being black because the dnt know themselves and our history but Im very proud to be a black man. A black history lesson for my people we have a divine connection with GOD we our the blessing of Abrabram holla

This is what I have to say to all my brothas and sistas...
When we began to "Know thyself",-which is an ancient kemetic (egyptian) proverb- love ourselves, reeducate ourselves on our-story and not his-story, when we began to know that God, Divinity, and Good has established itself inside us, that we are naturally good and walk in that concept we will be able to manifest that in our daily lives and it will flow from within us to our fellow brothas and sistas. But if we continue to believe what these pastors be puttin' out over the pullpit, we will forever struggle with our problems. The Suprme Creator put us here to create heaven right here on earth but these pharises and scribes have clouded our minds with lies and half-truths, tearin' us down spiritually and mentally. STOP LISTENING TO THESE PRECHERS AND GO WITHIN YOURSELF AND FIND GOD! Get this 6 volume book collection: Life and Teachings fo the Masters of the Far East. And apply it to your life.

Well, very interesting. The sad thing about I probably would have said the same thing. The other thing is of those men that are incarcerated,it's then when they turn to books for knowledge.Sad they dont realize the importance of knowledge and choice that would make a difference. Yes the freedom of choice. The choice to stay free and not become incarcerated.so how do we connect with our young black men to make the right or better choice. That it doesnt take to be incarcerated to get educated.

Well I don't know to much about the media in all but I do know for a fact that they tell you what they want or feel you should know and another thing I know for sure is fact and that is every jail or prison i've visited the majority was blacks, everytime a lot who are just being falsely accused but someone has to take the fall right? This was a good subject to touch on, big ups for this one!
